I fairly regularly partake in the odd pint of Guinness and only ever ask for extra cold when offered.

It dawned on me that whenever I am at the bar virtually everybody asks for the extra cold, is there any benefit to asking for a pint of normal Guinness?

Surely the cold is better, because it's well.....colder.

It's the same price in my local as well.

smile

ETA they both come from the same barrel don't they but the extra cold has cooled lines??

As long as it's cold and creamy.

But which would you ask for given the choice?

Normal, extra cold is for girls, who aren't pregnant, and are very girly.

The fact it's colder means it taste less strong, manly, and well Guinness.

It's like ice in Scotch.

Extra cold Guinness, or any other beer for that matter, is an excuse to keep a crap cellar as it disguises the crapness.

Warm, and I like to drink it before it's settled, like a stout milk shake paperbag

Normal, every time! EC numbs the taste buds (not as much as scampi fries or pork scratchings though...)

Normal for me as I like to be able to taste my guiness, the extra cold is for lager drinkers scared of tasting anything.

Then again I like the bottled stuff as well, hav you tried th 8% stuff

Seems to take less time to pour a pint of extra cold, so I appreciate a shorter queue at the bar, especially if I'm going to see the rugby and everyone's drinking guinness.

I only usually drink guinness in Autumn/Winter (might be connected to the above) so in a usual pub situation on a cold day, the last thing I really want is something further chilled!
