Have they given up selling any decent cider (not the 85p/dirt cheap Taurus) or is it just my local stores? Not seen of their 'Vintage' stuff, or anything remotely interesting for a couple of months.
My local one does the vintage in the 750ml bottles. The MIL thought I was pouring out myself a pint of wine the other day, she was impressed!

The vintage cider is good, I agree!
Cheers, I'll persevere and continue to look. Morrison's have a good range but the Aldi Vintage is cheaper and I generally just like a variety. As Ive mentioned on this thread before, Aldi used to have some 'Knight's Malvern Gold' cider too which was great but didn't seem to be available there for long.

On a non food angle, for the Lidlers, the W5 limescale remover stuff is dynamite. Care needed using it, but positively fizzing stuff, literally.

Yes I've used that too, proper old school lime scale zapper.

Just bought these two whites from Aldi:

The one on the left was recommended in the Telegraph last week, it's very good.

The one on the right I bought as it's an Albariño, which I had in Ibiza and liked very much. Admittedly this view of how nice it was may have been influenced to a large extent by the fact that I was in the sun, next to a pool at a villa in the mountains, so will be interesting to see how well it goes down in Yorkshire where it's 20 degrees cooler.
Had a bottle of the Godello at the weekend, very nice, fresh and zingy. Had it with the sardines which I did on the barbecue. Had to gut them first, wasn't expecting that, they were scaled at least.

Christian Horner obviously a fan at Lidl, from the British GP this weekend

Corporate hospitality would be interesting. No doubt Mclaren with their latest woes are down at Iceland.

Just like to point out never get Orlando Chunks for your dog from Lidl. Gave him the squits for the entire weekend. And you know when no sound happens but everyone has to leave the room, whilst he's still asleep...... that's when your dog just "lidl'd"
Switching a dogs food instantly will upset their stomach... a bit like when we get travellers belly.

Another one for the Lidl'ers. Frozen section, Köttbullar, or Swedish meatballs. Not sure if these are a special buy or going to be a regular, hope the latter as they're the real deal.

Also in the frozen section, seem to be occasional purchase lines available as and when, but Whitby branded seafoods. Tried both cod goujons and scampi, excellent quality. Also available in Iceland, noticed on a recent rare visit, that's the shop not the nation up in the frozen north.

Have been over here in the Fatherland for the last couple of weeks. The difference between UK and D Aldi is stark; you can really see the massive value the UK management team has added to the brand, in carving out its own niche within the UK retail market.

Lidl, on the other hand, is much like itself in both countries, with UK branches now rolling out the instore bakeries which D stores have had for quite a few years now.

Yep, we always bring back some little bottles of Sekt.

I drink very little booze at home, so they're great if my missus fancies a little treat but would end wasting a large bottle.

Regional thing? My local Lidl's have had bakeries for years.

Croissant are dirt cheap, but taste nothing like the more expensive ones from the bakers down the road so avoid. The Goats Cheese Focaccia and the vegetable pizza thing are useful for filling up kids on the go.

Good it sounds like the BrITISH companies are pulling back punters from foreign owned food soldiers.

Also/Lidi/Netto are essentially what Kwiksave and Sommerfield and Safeway were before they went bust.

The public are tired of austerity so want to upgrade again. Not have car doors dinged in the tiny car parking spaces not be mugged off

Have you been to a Waitrose recently, they must have some of the tiniest parking spaces going.

The rest of your post is just jingoistic nonsense...quelle surprise.

Yes it is just jingoistic nonsense, not to mention in Lidl it's easier to find fresh British produce than it is in e.g. Tesco.

Did they have the ingredients in to make those meals, and were they of good quality?

They have stopped selling wild Salmon at moment which has resulted in me going elsewhere though.

Asda = American
Tesco = Major shareholders are people like Warren buffet, Norwegian Banks etc
Sainsburys = Major shareholders are Qatar Holdings
Morrisons = Foreign investment companies

So that leaves Waitrose, and having read your posts, you seem too tight to use Waitrose hehe

Absolutely! I think since shopping there I've bought more British produce than ever.

Locally Waitrose, Tesco and slightly further (10 miles) Sainsbury's have the most awful car parks, layout and space size - Waitrose is a council owned car park so pay and display.

Lidl and Aldi however have an easier layout with slightly larger bays. It's also where there's more exotica parked - regularly see top of the range Jags, Astons and sportier stuff like TVRs and Lotus.

Actually I'm glad you shop elsewhere. Saves us meeting in a aisle.
