Mixed bag really. I'm not too keen on the darker beers, but the lighter ones are good. The cherry stout was ok for something different. The best one was the Woodsetten pale ale, I'll be picking up a few bottles of that tomorrow.

Not often I come to this thread with a negative contribution...

Haagen Dazs make a 'Strawberry Cheesecake' ice cream.
Aldi make a 'Strawberry Cheesecake' ice cream.

Let's just say that... Haagen Dazs don't make Aldi's ice cream for them.

Thanks. Will test a few. I enjoyed the Oakham Inferno ale they had in earlier in the summer but a few in the late Spring/early Summer beer festival promotion were a bit meh.

I really rate the (brewed by Marston's) Wild Bill's IPA and the (Sadler's) Mud City Stout. A permanent wider range of ales in Aldi would be welcome as Tesco are no longer offering 4 bottles for £6.

thats a nice pile of pizza!
But you missed the 'Sloppy Joe'

That one is awesome - I mentioned it a few pages back, thin crust too - just needs a bit of extra pepper adding and an additional handful of cheese on top.
I still haven't seen the Sloppy Joe one. Have got the pizza cooking down to four minutes now in the outdoor oven. Sticking with the thin and crispy ones.

Also andburg - it was I who mentioned a friend buying the Belgian Beer Ham - I didn't try it but will do if I see it again.

what did you think of the spinach and ricotta? always tastes good to me
This is my favourite. Lads and their mates have had Sweet Chilli Chicken, Basil and Mozzarella, BBQ Meat Feast, Spinach and Ricotta and a couple of garlic breads all in the outdoor oven over the weekend. They're enjoying it too, sitting out around a fire until late.
I think the Pizzas are around £1.29 each, Garlic Bread .75p. Wood works out maybe £1 a time if that. Under £7 and I'm feeding half a dozen teenagers.

I wasn't that keen on the Sadlers Peaky Blinder, was a bit too malty for my liking.

Just a heads up but Morrison's have a vast range of ales that are 4 for £6

I'm yet to find a better supermarket steak. I compared the Aldi 30 day rib to Sainsuburys extra-mature-finest-comes-in-a-gold-packet-whatever at £8 for a single steak and both me and Mrs 21 preferred the Aldi steak.

Better/same as the equivalent Lidl offering?

Six of one, IME.

Sometimes Lidl steaks are better; sometimes Aldi.

Been quite disappointed the last couple of times from Lidl steaks tbh. Sufficiently so that, although going to Aldi needs a bit more effort, next time steak on menu going to Aldi.

Just been down to the new store.

Car park much bigger than usual but was 90% full. Spaces seem wider too. Not quite Costso size but considerably larger than standard.

Inside the fitment is really nice, much smarter than the older stores. Isles much wider and items generally laid out much better.

Overall, very impressed.

Very smart!

Was it a new build shell or an existing unit?

Lidl are revamping stores like that too - there's one in Gloucester been open for a bit and another opening soon. Very impressive and they are really trying hard to shake off the low end sticky floor dim lighting thing!

Both of those stores have been closed, demolished and rebuilt!

So I have some of the ALDI smoked mackerel fillets in peri peri seasoning. (similar pic below). What do YOU guys do with it? sure you can eat it on it's own.. but would rather eat it with something. intial thoughts was just to tear it up in a pasta salad. or just eat it over rice with regular soy sauce. if it's any good I might make it a go-to thing for work lunch.
Tried this a while back and it has too many bones for my liking - could have been a one off as I've not tried it again since. Only supermarket smoked Mackerel I can find that consistently is basically bone free is the Marks and Sparks version. Interested to know the bone content if you could please?

ta
So I ate it for lunch today with some rice, was good, definately getting it again. As for bones... I'm used to eating a whole mackerel grilled so haven't got much problem with picking out bones as I eat it. There were bones in this but not much, it was mainly around the top edge of the fish (which always has bones) the main meaty body of the fish didn't really have any. Most of the bones were tiny and a little soft. the harder small ones being on the top edge of the fish.
Ate the plain smoked mackerel verson today, liked it much more then the piri-piri one. I only saw 1 bone. you could quite easily just peel the skin off if you wanted and all the meat would have no bones, then flake into a salad or something.
