Speaking of sauces, I recently discovered that Waitrose sell the best tasting ketchup cloud9

If you haven't already, try it!

Tiptree is far superior imho...
Morrisons the best is not too shabby
IKEA ketchup is my favourite.

It’s not letting it leak in your handbag that’s the tricky part.

I bloody loce ice cream, care to share the recipe?
It’s just a small tin (397g) of Condensed Milk and 300ml of Double Cream (add whatever flavours colours etc) - I use my Kitchen Aid with to whip it up until it’s thick, holds itself, then freeze smile
I have now made this.
It's superb, a little too sweet but next time I'll use more cream. Most impressed thanks.
I flavoured mine with a bar of Fry's peppermint cream which made a perfect mint choc chip.

I can't recall which does the better mayo (which annoys me, as I use a lot if it)

Lidl brown sauce is definitely better than Aldi. And Aldi tomato ketchup is pretty dreadful (I think I've got Heinz at the moment - and I'm not proud). Don't use much ketchup though; prefer curry ketchup from ze Fatherland.
Where do you get your curry ketchup from? Every where I have tried are charging a fortune
I go to Germany 2 or 3 times a year, so just bring it back.

I understand that Sainsbury's currently have it on a shortlist of potential new products though; will post here when/if it gets a green light.

The ability to use Google is no substitute for knowing what you're taking about wink
True, I just thought I'd share my ignorance...
biggrin TBH I was hoping that V8 may come back with some cheaper options. I was aware of the Amazon ones and have ordered before but it never lasts long enough for the price lick

Oooh flavour sounds good.

I have adjusted the ratio in the past. Made a couple up last night, one with Baileys for a friend’s birthday and another with a handful of frozen Summer Berries (also from Aldi) - used a few Raspberries, Red Currants and a couple of Black Currants. Tastes along the lines of Eaton Mess. Two flavours I know my lads won’t dig in to!

It’s one of those Ice Creams that works as just a spoonful with a Treacle Tart et al.

Anybody tried these yet? I love a sausage and I love a hot curry.. just not sure I’d enjoy the two combined.

On the topic of sausages - ALDI cheap ones (thing they are the chilled ones in packs of 12) - great.

Got some yesterday, will be having them in the week. Work colleague had some yesterday, his verdict - tasty but not hot.

My local Aldi haven’t had any Mince the past few Saturdays and neither the Lidl over the road. I thought perhaps there was a national shortage. Maybe a bad season/crop of cows.

Since I’m off today I thought I’d mix things up and do some food shopping.

It appears the route of the problem is this (not English) chap. He’s just been told off for buying 25 packs of Mince! hehe The assistant has told him in no uncertain terms he has to stop coming in and clearing them out and must order/let them know which days he wants to pick up... Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and a Saturday apparently rolleyes

Here he is clearly seen gripping the trolley with his latest haul.

They are very good - far better than the crap that Richmond produce.

You should have asked him where his burger van is, seeing as you know the ingredients are decent quality hehe Surely Costco or food wholesalers would be cheaper for bulk buying.

I noticed a few guys that looked as if they were from local food outlets doing similar sized 'catering runs' around Aldi.. frickin' trolly hogs. One of them was loading up with whole trays of bread.. literally taking everything off the shelf.

Anyway - Burger Talk!.. which mince do you use Gretch? I tried making my own with their pork and beef mince (the one that is pork & beef combined).. worked out pretty well for a first time attempt.

Pork and beef mix makes the best beefburgers, meatballs etc.

Odd that the Brits are only just hearing about it though; has always been the way in ze Fatherland. Even goulash etc will have a meat mix.

I'm really surprised that a burger van-type operator makes his own burgers though!

I don’t know he owned van. That was hyphen speculating. Maybe he just likes mince and brioche buns, and so do his family of 85.

I’ve home-made burgers since the ‘80s. Nothing new. A mix of Pork and Beef Mince give more tender/moist burgers (the fat from Pork Mince helps). But whatever is available. Same with herbs/spices etc. Sometimes chuck some cheese in too. Lamb and Feta burgers I’ve made before. My youngest makes a nice Lamb Kofta with Mince too with fresh Corriander. Not bad for a 13 (now 15yr old).

To ensure I wasn't bringing too much bias to bear, I shared one of these with Lady V8 (who is a much more discerning consumer of confectionery)

Both of us absolutely agreed that these Lidl jobbies knock a Snickers outta tha park.

Seconded, Mrs agrees,

Likewise, not sure if the pricing is still valid, but probably same difference.
