The Aldi telescopic snow brush I picked for £3 did a sterling job today of clearing the car smile

I picked one of these up from Aldi in Alnwick for £1.29
for what ever reason it appeared to be on sale when I got to the till,
Just picked up another from my local Aldi in Failsworth for £1.29 as the wife has nicked the one I bought !

Anybody tried these yet? I love a sausage and I love a hot curry.. just not sure I’d enjoy the two combined.

On the topic of sausages - ALDI cheap ones (thing they are the chilled ones in packs of 12) - great.
Well I bought some anyway... will report back
Got some yesterday, will be having them in the week. Work colleague had some yesterday, his verdict - tasty but not hot.
Finally got round to try the ghost-chilli extra hot sausages...

Well they certainly arnt hot! As mentioned above.

Tasty though.

Just had one of the Specially Selected Aberdeen Angus rump steaks, despite me over cooking it a bit by accident it was still one of the tastiest home cooked steaks I've had in a long while. Served with skinny fries and washed down with a bottle of Castellore Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, only £4.00 and fantastic.

Ye the steaks are very good, i had the filet and sirloin the other week, both very good, could almost pull the filet apart with a fork, no need for steak knives. The st they sell at asda in particular isnt a patch on the aldi steaks.

Their chicken breasts and mince meat is also very good.

Same here, steak is the one thing I consistently screw up on but that ribeye was bang on. 2 mins each side and left to rest for 2 mins (with a mountain of Stilton melting on top) smile

Had a 'specially selected' Steak and Claret pie last night. Absolute rubbish unfortunately. The first really poor product I've had from them. The quality of the meat was crap.

Is that the large, family pie in the black box from the chiller?

I have had the chicken and leek one several times over the winter and it's superb. The pastry, even the base, melts in your mouth, and the pie is chock full of chicken. Couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Shame to hear a poor review of the other 'flavour'; I've never tried it.

Anyone had the "Ready, Set, Cook" meal kits? £3.99 for a 2 serving pack of casserole, stroganof, stir fry etc with the meat, veg and sauces included in the pack? The casseroles look ok for slow cookering.

We have had the chinese stir fry one and it was ok for a quick mid-week meal, cooked and mixed in with some noodles.

I've had the steak one a few times and always thought it was nice. Bit lacking in gravy but not bad for an off the shelf pie.

We have these things regularly (Or Lidl equivalent). Bit of a rake about to find two almost exactly the same with not too much fat and they're consistently excellent. 1:30 each side then chucked in the oven while sorting out accompaniments, grand!

Was it Aldi or Lidl that used to do the schnitzel from the freezer?

Vaguely remember a blue/yellow box and "XXL" printed?

They were good for quick and easy when they were stocked.

Nah the smaller individual one.

Didn't even bother finishing it. It was properly rubbish. The pastry was ok but the meat was just junk.

Ah ok. This is the one I was talking about... we're having it tonight, in fact!

Picked up a Stoganoff one with a 50% off sticker (still in date by two days) the other night as I was home alone. Didn’t rate it. Tasted bland to be honest. Wouldn’t buy again at half price, let alone full.

You should have asked him where his burger van is, seeing as you know the ingredients are decent quality hehe Surely Costco or food wholesalers would be cheaper for bulk buying.
I can make my own cheaper... when I can get hold of any mince hehe
I noticed a few guys that looked as if they were from local food outlets doing similar sized 'catering runs' around Aldi.. frickin' trolly hogs. One of them was loading up with whole trays of bread.. literally taking everything off the shelf.

Anyway - Burger Talk!.. which mince do you use Gretch? I tried making my own with their pork and beef mince (the one that is pork & beef combined).. worked out pretty well for a first time attempt.
I found out today the chap I saw owns two restaurants. An Italian and a Burger/cocktail bar. He’s a very pleasant man. I’ve eaten in the Italian which was good. Not tried the Burger place, yet.

Now I’m managing to purchase Mince again (btw it’s around .50p a kilo cheaper to buy two 500g packs than a 1kg pack on bother Lidl and Aldi) I’m making (not made for a long time) home made meatballs.

Bought a few Lidl Chorizos a few weeks back on superweekend for .89p. Mincing these up along with garlic, herbs, etc. Chucked over some sauce (this weekend I cheated and used a .56p jar of Aldi Spicy Peppercorn Pasta Sauce) Actually in my kids Mum of the year book for once!
