Perhaps into next Spring, depending upon the Pandemic situation, I'll try and get something moving in The Midlands forum, regular pub meet or similar.
The PH Derbyshire Aldi meet? It’s a shame the world is what it is right now. We could have gone on a mince pie hunt around our favourite stores!Perhaps into next Spring, depending upon the Pandemic situation, I'll try and get something moving in The Midlands forum, regular pub meet or similar.

I went to a different Aldi, the one in the next town (Ashbourne) rather than the one at the end of the road. As different as chalk & cheese in so many ways (yet both are new stores).
The small town (pop 35k) I live in has two Lidls (as well as an Aldi). The Lidl at one end of town is a council as council could be but the other one the other side of town 2 miles away is pure middle class shopper slumming it. At the first the staff growl at everyone, at the other they rival Waitrose for politeness. But the difference means that if you want something such as the Belgian beers, you pick the store where the product won't appeal to the demographic that use it.

Shop to car, to worktop, to sealed glass jar.
I’m tempted to suggest it was in the jar. Set some traps. Siberian Hamsters mating season is November. 21st Century Man said:
Having flounced last week, I went to a different Aldi, the one in the next town (Ashbourne) rather than the one at the end of the road. As different as chalk & cheese in so many ways (yet both are new stores). I got everything I couldn't get at my local store last week, plus several of the recommendations on the last few pages, wines, mince pies and the Romeo faux Bounty. A good experience and not an inkling of the Meldrew entering my brain. I'll be sticking with it I reckon.
Ashbourne is a cracking store.andburg said:
Been to both after work, same story, no seasonal ports and none of the beers I like
Thinking back to previous years, there is often an early, initial allocation of Christmas products out to stores, with those ranges not replenished until early December. So don't give up hope!

these moody Bountys are amazing. I'm sure theyve stirred in some depleted nuclear waste as a flavour enhancer (i.e. nothing natural) but the coconut-y bit knocks a regular Bounty outta tha park.
These are great. The 5 year old XO Brandy is pretty good, it's not great, but at £14 a bottle it's just as good as the better known brands at twice to thrice the price, so in value terms it's quite something.

They will come back, I could just order it online

Another Aldi cracker.
Lovely dry white - we had it with a roast chicken dinner, but it would complement fish, light chinky etc too.
And it's so easy drinking, that serving it for stand-up slurping with the odd nibble would win friends.
Noticed this morning that this is currently on special offer at £4.99 - which makes it an absolute bargain.Lovely dry white - we had it with a roast chicken dinner, but it would complement fish, light chinky etc too.

It's in the main wine range.
As a rule I usually marinade my own chicken but decided to give the sweet chilli chicken thighs a shot as they're only £3 a pack; they are excellent value for money.

Nice cheap craft beer, steam brewery session iPa. Not bad at 1.29 a can per 500ml.
Was this in Lidl? I had a bunch of that while in France earlier in the year. Went down pretty well with a BBQ although some of them where pretty strong at ~8% I think they had a stout and a German red beer too.Gassing Station | Food, Drink & Restaurants | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
