Scotch eggs?

Love 'em!

Mr Roper,

Although a virile father of three, your input in the food forum makes me have a degree of man love for you!

Sorry had to be said. Currently on a high after polishing off some madras cod a neighbour cooked for me, despite eating my own salmon dinner only an hour before.

Recently I seem to have eaten a lot of scotch eggs that have also included black pudding.
Oh. My. God.

This sounds like the height of culinary perfection to me. How is the black pud incorporated? A layer between the sausage meat and the egg, or mixed in with the sausage meat itself?

Curiously enough I've just had my first Black Watch Scotch Egg.

Still coated in breadcrumbs , but Black pudding shell as against sausage meat.

Bloody delicious!

So, if anyone is anywhere near a Hambleton Farms food hall/shop then grab one.

Scotch egg coincidence.

Spot this thread a couple of days after I spot my first "with black pudding" at our local butchers.

They are fairly proud of their black puddings there, so am expecting good things.

Report to follow.

As mentioned previously, the Hinds Head scotch eggs are to die for - absolutely perfect, including a runny yolk!

Damnit! I'm off up to visit the olds in Cheshire this weekend and was cooking up some spurious excuse for the o/h to 'pop' to a pub in Manchester ( I doubt th old man will be hard to persuade!), but have no idea where to get them from! Any ideas anyone?

I have a relation who runs a gastro pub in London, famous for its Scotch eggs. Apparently the runny yoke is soon to be struck off the finished product due to Environmental Health deeming the runny yokes a hygiene issue.

This annoyed me a little when the news broke about this amazing creation, me and my dad have been making pickled (malt) egg variants for years, I should have brought them to market.

is this the harwood arms - they are exceptional, not just the scotch eggs - how sad - can they not just get guests to sign a disclamer and tell the healt and safety gestapo to get lost?????

Living in America, this thread is torture.

I yearn for good, home-made scotch eggs. The Cadogan Arms in Chelsea does a lovely one with a runny yolk, if people are ever in West London.

try the heston recepy, then- should be able to get eggs and if you have a german or english butcher somewhere sausage meat should be forthcoming....
it's worth doing (don't use any american beer, though)
