I'm stuck in a Manchester rut these days.

We love chinese food so we just keep going back to the yang sing and ordering the same thing. It's not what it used to be, but certain things are just lovely.

Used to got to R&A in Soho years ago so will be really interested to see what it's like.

I'll be giving 20 stories a swerve I think.

We did go to Where the Light Gets In in Stockport and found it really interesting. Will have to go back again to see if that meant we liked it!

Why’s that?

Just wondering if it’s irrational hate. Just like I have for Rebecca Adlington.
Yep. Basically.

Born from how he came across in the restaurant wars program a while ago.

Tried the rice bowl?

Also, Yu in Alderley Edge if you fancy going further afield.

Also, really fancy trying where the light gets in. Have to wait for my wife to pop the sprog out first though.

go when she is pregnant but still order two wine flights. I thought they were a bit stingy with the vino. Even if it was all lovely.

But then I am of Irish heritage so not the most reliable witness when it comes to booze.

We live near Alderley but I haven't tried it. I believe it's good.

Like I say stuck in a rut - been to the Rice Bowl a few times but we keep going back. My daughter is borderline obsessed with Yang Sing Char Sui and I am an indulgent father!

Must be my age.

try pacifica cantonese, it's meant to parp on all other chinese in the whole region... in Eccles though.

Not sure I'd be arsed to eat in 20 stories, but it's a nice bar.

Heard of WTLHI, but not been, don't spend a whole lot of time in stockport.

Have you tried rabbit in the moon?

Haven't tried Rabbit in the moon - may give it a go with my son as he is into that sort of thing.

Pie is on the menu tonight, and forgot to slow cook the middle bit last night at home, luckily we have a slow cooker in the office biggrin No pan to fry off stuff though, so all raw. Prep, followed by pie photos later. Thinking dauphinoise for the side.

Also couldn't find a tin opener, so a corkscrew to pierce it and knife to pull it open. Then the boss came in and saw the beer, quickly called me a F****** W***** and walked off, before I polished the rest off.

I should do some work drunk

Err, the thought of how I get all that home on my bike just crossed my mind. Probably about 1.5KG of meat and liquid.

Ah well, later on's problem!

that's a weird situation to be in. Surely during the working day no-one is going to be able to start and finish a slow cooker recipe? Do people live in your office or something?

Not sure it's that bad, I put it all on at noon, and will leave at 5:30ish, more than long enough to cook it all. Then I will make the pies at home.

But we do have staff about from 6am to 8pm, and the kitchen is glass walled onto our office, any fire would be spotted promptly!

Edit: A bedroom was once discussed rofl

I've been and worked in some pretty fancy offices (Spotify's 8th Floor IceRink overlooking the Empire State was quite something last year), but I have never seen a slow cooker in one of them.

Why on earth have you got one, or do you work at Lakeland or Argos head office or something?? hehe

The boss wants to slow cook his soup for lunch.

Yea, best not to ask...

Review of 20 stories here: https://www.facebook.com/manchesterconfidential/po...

As expected, typical Aiden Byrne. All fur coat and no knickers.

The grill bit fairs better but not sure it would tempt me away from Hawksmoor.
