I had a go at the Chicken Jalfrezi from The Curry Guy book last night. I think my chillies were slightly past their best, it wasn’t quite as spicy as I’d have like. Overall I am quite pleased with the result.

England football weekend.

Do love my Yorkshire puddings as you know from the Fray Bentos experiments so I did them for finger nibbles with some really hot chillies my cousin sent down from Cheshire and also pudding with ice cream and maple syrup.

2.4kg of ribs as well. Done in the oven at 3 hours / 120C plus 20 mins at 200C to finish

Dog got something he liked also.

those were very very hot, so needed these to cool down.

Some of mine... too lazy after a trip to the fish market to go out for breakfast, so got it delivered.

Thick cut bacon
hash brown
green ketchup
fried egg
pea puree
edamame
pea tendrils

I mentioned the fish market, this was lunch, king crab cluster:

Lovely week spent in Cyprus. Delighted to find a traditional charcoal BBQ at our villa complete with spits. Fantastic produce from the markets and supermarkets, huge range of very fresh fish, and quality meats. Still dreaming of the tomatoes, absolutely delicious. Think I gained half a stone.

Pictures are a bit poor, and presentation lacking, but I didn't care, It was nice to cook for fun again and to get back to concentrating on the ingredients themselves. :-)

Pork Shoulder over charcoal:

Classic Feta and tomato salad:

Sea Bass, stuffed with dill and lemon:

..and then BBQ'd:

Didn't get a photo of the main but made oyster mushrooms with a pea puree as a starter last night. Need to find something salty and crispy for next time to finish it off.

Or if you're veggie a parmesan crisp or similar would work well with the pea. :-)

It uses rennet so isn't considered vegetarian.

Other cheeses are available ;-) Even veggie parmesan, although it cannot technically be called Parmesan! You know what I meant! :-)

Just been looking but I can't find it online. There is a very good hard Devon cheese that looks, tastes and melts like Parmesan but is vegetarian. I used to use it as a substitute and IK think it was either similar price or cheaper.

I'm vegan so it's a definite no to the cheese and bacon!

I don't think parmesan is what it needs anyway, if it was a scallop dish bacon or chorizo would be the natural pairing. I can make vegan chorizo with seitan but I think it'll be a little too much and overpowering.
