I’ve gone for an “Ahoi” and Fever Tree cola. I’ve only got one large bottle of the cola, so that’ll limit me to a couple of rums.
I also found a bottle of standard Mount Gay in the kitchen while I was hunting. It’s been opened, but I don’t remember buying it or drinking any of it. I also had the miniatures in last year’s advent calendar from my GF.
I’ve also gone to the effort of putting the Minttu (Finnish mint spirit) back in the freezer. It’s like thick mouthwash... 40% or so mouthwash.

We went on a tour/tasking session here https://www.westerspirit.com/casks and are now tempted to buy a cask and leave it with them for 3/5 years. Has anyone done this before?
I thought the rum was one of the worst I have ever tried and I have circa 100 bottles in my collection.Andrew[MG] said:
Party at yours! Hit us with your top 5 (not including unobtanium ones)
If my collection was lost and I'd to go out and buy 5 bottles then I'd buy the below I reckon.1. Plantation XO 20th Anniversary
2. Dictador XO Insolent
3. Diplimatico SBV (Whatever one is currently available).
4. El Dorado 21yr Old
5. Ron Zacapa XO
If I was giving advise my top 5 bang for buck rums :
1. El Dorardo 12
2. Ron Zacapa Solera 23
3. Diplimatico Reserva Exclusiva
4. Brugal 1888
5. Doorlys 12yr
I have a few that are exceptional and cannot be replaced however like Foursquare Zinfandel & Diplimatico SBV 2000.
I'm more of a single malt drinker these days and have around 30 bottles of the stuff on the shelf, done a couple of pilgrimages to Islay and all that...
Having recently perused this thread though I had a bit of nostalgia for the rum I enjoyed as a youth, the likes of Woods, Captain Morgan and later the Pussers which lurked in a dusty bottle in my old local...though it gradually dwindled over the years, particularly after a bad/stupid experience with too much Bacardi in the early 1990's which still makes me shudder to think of it even if my mates and the policeman found it amusing...
Enough waffle anyway...this pair of beauties arrived at work this morning, I was after some Smith & Cross too but it was sold out when ordering.

@ Blown2CV... Its different for sure, very pungent on the nose and I wasn't sure if I'd enjoy it based on that on the first sniff...a lot of flavours going on and my nose isn't up to deciphering subtle aromas if I'm honest.
The taste is something else though, the chili is there but very rounded with a gentle warming sensation, personally I haven't really got the chocolate yet but I'm new to spiced rums so may be missing something.
Quite viscous in the glass but not overly so, I'd think people would enjoy this as a dessert drink perhaps...I'd happily buy it again though so a recommendation overall.

I’ll probably be looked down on for this but I quite like the spiced sweeter rums.
Any suggestions?
This isn't a whisky thread, no judgement in here!Any suggestions?
Give Ron De Jeremy Spiced a go, it fits the bill for you
Also everything by Rockstar fits that bit, their citrus and salted caramel spiced rum is really nice and quite new to me.
I've just seen that Mount Gay are changing the recipes and price points of its range. In particular Black Barrel and XO. It seems like they're finally nudging XO to a price point similar to many of it's competitors such as Appleton 12yo etc - currently showing at £54 for the new "triple cask" on Whisky Exchange vs £44 for the original Reserve Cask.
Article here
Here's hoping they don't f*** it up. I might get a couple of bottles of the original before it gets too hard to find.

Amazon is generally a good place to pick up Mount Gay XO at a reasonable price. It's £33 at the moment which is imo a bit of a bargain.Article here
