Is the Kingslere one Nelson's Diner?
It looks a bit Butlins going by the website. If American and high quality isn't too incongruous.
It is, been there a few times, in fact had breakfast there a couple of weeks ago.

I really like it, was empty when I was in there, a couple of people came in over the course of a couple of hours, not sure it is sustainable if that is typical footfall.

Only ever been to the southbound one, the northbound ones are the full metal box thing. Definitely paying them a visit next weekend.
"Full metal box" thing? What the hell does that even mean?

I don't know of any in the midlands.

Years ago when I used to work in Bishopsgate in London, before Spitalfields got revamped I used to enjoy going to Fatboys Diner for lunch. Looks like it's been relocated now. I wish there was something the same as it in the midlands. lick

BJ's Diner in Brighton - very American diner themed, proper 'shakes' the works!!
Do you have an address? I tried google but all it came up with was a website coming soon page.

I've got a minor addiction to Grubbs Burgers so an American diner might help wean me off them, though I'm not sure what practical difference this would make to my diet. smile

Looks interesting.

I was thinking of less wagon/pre-fab ones and more.. you know, proper buildings, but that works too.

I found this one all the way down in Essex
http://bigmoesdiner.co.uk/
But on streetview it's a Frankie&Benny's
The diner must be new. It's the closed down building that has the 'drive thru' sign on it that used to be a Burger King.

I should point out the picture and link are not the same diner silly
I realise you realise that but re-reading my own post I didn't and I was confused.

So.. are there any in nice old art-deco/modernist buildings with.. featurey bits like the one with the round bit in the picture?

Starvin Marvin's on the A40 out of London (Perivale?).

It's the sort of place that you see all your life and when your dad finaly gives in and you go in for a burger and milkshake, you wish you hadn't.

Although it's got the vague whiff of americana about it, it's not really any better than a not-that-good caff. A bit run down, a bit sad really.

JB's is on the seafront (31 Kings Road). The milkshakes are good but IMO the burgers are a bit ropey. Portions are generous. My daughter loves it in there, we sometimes go in there for breakfast after a walk on the beach.

The signs stuck everywhere kinda ruin it though don't they? A normal American diner wouldn't have signs stuck all over the wall.
Statue of Liberty, life-size roller waitress figure.. and what's with the RC Skyline?
Theme restaurant fail.

Why can't people just make a nice clean faithful reproduction of a 50's diner in a streamline moderne building without all these references to f**king New York like it's the only city in f**king America?

Another +1 for the OK diner A1 (the metal box ones, not sure if north or southbound)

Always a nice treat when my dad takes me there, and we go there a fair bit! He did pinch their best waitress to be an admin person in his company, apparently the service isn't as great now. Foods still brilliant however.

Thread resurrection.

Hickory's Smokehouse is coming to Worcester.

The Worcester one will replace The Pavilion in the Park, just across the road from Worcestershire Cricket Club's New Road ground.
