I want to know if you can recycle these with the Nespresso recycling system? They seem to be a mix of plastic and aluminium and I can't seem to find anything on the Nespresso website about mixing other pods with their recycling system.
I can't say for certain, but as the Nespresso capsules are all aluminium, I wouldn't think they would be too keen on having plastics added to the mix. Although the process probably sifts out any non-aluminium content such as the bags.DoodoolTala said:

Insofar as they don't inspect the bag contents when they take it off you I'd say there would be no problem, and the recycling centre will include segregation so I guess the worst is that the non-Nespresso capsules will end up in landfill.I want to know if you can recycle these with the Nespresso recycling system? A percentage of the official capsule is inevitably plastic anyway so they must have to account for that, the grounds and anything else that might inadvertently be slung in the bags.

Which bit? The one I pulled apart consisted of Aluminium and coffee grounds.Desiato said:

The 'paper' end cap will almost certainly have some polyethylene or something in it to keep it airtight, and I'd say there's a fair chance the inside (and possibly outside) of the capsule is polymer coated too, to avoid tainting the coffee.I need to stock up on pods...
I'm a sucker for the special editions - usually find them tasty but it's probably as much about variety as anything else.
I see there are two on just now - Arabica Harrar and Robusta Uganda. Anyone tried them yet?
My layman's knowledge of coffee is that Arabica is the good stuff and Robusta isn't, so unusual to find the latter in a high-ish end espresso capsule.
It seems they're conscious of this and the notes say "A most powerful espresso, yet surprisingly fine and sweet for a Robusta."
Only one way to find out, I'll give it a bash for a sleeve or two.

off topic but does anyone know where you can get espresso sized re-useable cups made from glass?
I found one company in Australia that does them but it will cost over £20 with shipping.

Or these:

Quite a few seemed to come up with a Google search for 'espresso glasses'.

Try Amazon:I found one company in Australia that does them but it will cost over £20 with shipping.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/KitchenCraft-LeXpress-Ins...
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Creative-Tops-Cafetiere-I...
(I've got the latter one, and because it's double walled it does a good job of keeping the contents hot.
I think John Lewis sell a couple of examples as well.

I drink espressos outside on the go and I don't want to keep on adding to the environmental damage with non-recyclable cups. The glass ones all come in the 8oz size which is too big. They do make the plastic version in 4oz but it apparently changes the taste of the coffee.
Like I mentioned I found a Australian company via google but with P&P it's far too costly.
Bought one of these a couple of weeks ago, Sage Creatista Plus
It's got an automatic steam wand which makes some near-coffee-shop-level milk drinks, either via pre-selected programs or totally customised. Absolutely love it. Does anyone else have one, and do you have any tips? I'm still testing out various amounts of coffee/ milk to get my flat whites just right. I feel you need two capsules to get the espresso to the same amount as you would get in a coffee shop.
