FWIW, I sold my Vertuo and went back to the traditional machine. I think the coffee is better.

I recently ordered a load more pods online from Nespresso and a free Syrups pack and Ice cube mould appeared in the basket, not advertise, just appeared.

I have to say its not something I would have bought or expected to like but i've become rather partial to an iced coffee with cold whipped milk and a caramel shot now... in fact its bloody lovely!

Agreed, we switch almost exclusively to iced coffees for the summer. Vanilla Monin is the bomb.

Ice maker makes it a lot easier!

My aeroccino met its maker today after 11 years of solid service. I'll be purchasing an aeroccino 4 from Nespresso unless anyone can give me a good reason not to?

Mostly used just by me (so doesn't need to be large capacity) and the idea of it being dishwasher safe appeals.

Same here, been making quite a few on the hotter days...

Got a few bottles of that '0 cal' syrup from TK Maxx... Squirt of that in a glass with, double espresso pod, ice and milk. Can't go wrong.

What's the best way to do an iced coffee, I've got syrup already..

  • 6 or 7 ice cubes (or equivalent crushed ice if available) in a glass,
  • Shot of vanilla (I go light on syrup, easy to overdo it)
  • Fill with milk, leaving space for coffee. I probably only have 150-200 ml of milk per glass
  • Dump one or two capsules on top (depending on glass size)
  • Stir
  • Enjoy!
Best with a straw, avoids ice cubes burning your lips smile

I use that same machine in an office currently, works well, collects the pods in the container for easy disposal.

Can't taste a difference between the newer and normal pods, but then again I much prefer an espresso from a coffee shop to Nespresso.

I like the larger capsules, it's a better system to use (centrifugal, spins round) but hasn't taken off as people don't like change, so you will have less choice in pods at
Nespresso and also zero 3rd party products as none of the supermarkets etc sell the larger pods.

Which was the reason why Nespresso introduced the new (failed) system, to prevent 3rd party products as they had lost the legal protection on the original system.

We've moved offices and now have Nespresso machines available rather than the bean to cup machine we had in the old office.

I tend to drink a long/Americano coffee, and usually use a Aeropress at home. I picked up some aftermarket capsules from HEMA which make a pretty decent coffee, but their Strength 8 one is not strong enough to dilute it down to a mug full unless I use 2 pods per mug. Any recommendations on what capsules make a decent Americano?

Anyone tried the new Cafezinho de Brasil yet? Just ordered some from the site as they're a stronger coffee which I prefer (I usually rotate between Dharkan, Roma, Kazaar and Arpeggio).

I've also ordered a few of the iced ones (Flat White and Long Black over Ice) to see whether they're any cop as they sent me a free Monin syrup tester thingy and Nomad cup last time I ordered pods...

Just because you do not like it does not mean it's failed, in fact it most certainly has not else after several years in the US we would not have seen it moved out to the UK, Europe and the rest of the world. I do agree there will have been a certain amount of (you could not copy our original pods for 5 (?) years) so we'll be able to manage the same on the virtuo pods.

On whether the Vertuo is worth it, I think it depends on what you drink. If espressos and americanos, then probably not as the coffee range is smaller and there's no third party products, however if you prefer coffee by the mug, like me, then it can work,

I always thought that Vertuo was intended for larger mug sizes rather than espressos?

It is, though they also cover espresso and lungi sizes (plus others) - I seem to remember the smaller sizes are more expensive for the Vertuo system than for the original (and of course no third party for a while).

I got invited to a Nespresso panel to give feedback - they wanted opinions on this as a new range...

Nice - I'd like to see those Italian ones make it onto the site. I like the strong ones so rotate between Dharkan, Roma, Arpeggio and Kazaar - a few more with a kick would be great.

I was coming to praise how quick the turn around on my machine from my Nespresso warranty claim.

Unfortunately after taking my machine out. It appears they must have let the work experience have a go at fixing it on a Friday afternoon. scrapes in the plastic from using a screw driver to open it up. Machine was returned dirty and sitting in water.

The actual swap from DPD is really efficient. Book in machine. Next day DPD bring a loan machine and take yours away in a case. then repeat when bringing it back.

Update. Nespresso are replacing the Machine. So great customer service from the senior manger I spoke with.

Anyone else gone in for the Nespresso advent calendar? https://www.nespresso.com/uk/en/order/capsules/ori...

I also see the Christmas Variations are out - Nordic Almond Cake (eww), Nordic Cloudberry (eww) and Nordic Black (ooh!)
