The issue I have with their Ambassador emails is the amount of rubbish you get - it's all or nothing unfortunately.

Looked back at the coffee consumption since working from home started and realised I've missed a trick by not doing one of the subscription deals.

Cue a new Sage Creatista Uno - the one with a proper steam wand - on the €65/mo package. I was spending at least that on pods anyway, so...free machine! Well, €1 machine smile

Much less faff and easier to clean than the Lattissimo, milk quality is better, more consistent, and it gets much hotter, much to Mrs LLA's delight - no more 20s in the microwave after making a latte. And the best thing is it heats up in 3 seconds.

Has anyone tried the refillable pods you can find on eBay?

I know I know - Nespresso is about convenience, not fannying about refilling pods. It would be an occasional thing to try a different coffee without buying an espresso machine.

Cheers.

We bought some, binned after one try. Too much faff and leaked everywhere.

Never tried them, but people I've spoken to who have, all have experiences like QuartzDad

Thanks both, not surprised tbh as pressure is key to a good espresso as I understand it, and you only have to try re-using an already punctured nespresso capsule to know there isn't much room for error!

Given that the non-Nespresso pods which claim to be compatible with Nespresso machines are very hit and miss, then I wouldn't hold out much hope.

Really interested in picking up a Nespresso machine with black Friday around the corner.

I have tried to research what machine I need and I can't seem to fathom our why I wouldn't just buy the cheapest one?

All the other more expensive one's (excluding milk frother models) seem to have the same pressure and slightly more water capacity and that's it. I must be missing something.

I would rather buy an original machine as I like the idea of being able to get 3rd party pods if I wish.

Any help would be appreciated.

They used to be all the same, apart from brand, appearance and milk features. Go for the cheapest one that you like. They only push hot water through a capsule.

When they were almost the same, the Krups ones had a longer manufacturers warranty compared to the Magimix versions. As to differences, in each grouping (just coffee, with additional milk frother, inbuilt milk bits), it was just water capacity and bling.

Thanks for the replies.

Seems for once the cheapest one will do the job!

I'll have a look for a krups one with an extra warranty if they are still around.

Yup, had three machines over the years, from an old ‘Magimix’ Essenza (RRP £100), through a ‘DeLonghi’ Latissima (£200?) and now a ‘Sage’ Creatista Uno (£350?) and the actual coffee from all three is indistinguishable.

The difference comes in flexibility, milk handling and ease of use/cleaning, so if all you want is espresso then just get the cheapest.

I've had a "mk1" Nespresso machine, a deLonghi with the milk frother attachment for many years, and went through the end of the patent on the original capsules, picking up Nespresso-compatible capsules from Costco and various supermarkets, with varying results.

I succumbed to a Vertuo machine, as I enjoy Lungo-style coffee by the mug full, and I really like it. The appearance of a pop-up Nespresso stall in West Quay, Southampton, means that replacement capsules are readily available, but with the onset of the long, cold, dark Lockdown 2.0 I ordered another stash of capsules directly from Nespresso on Tuesday, they appeared yesterday, and took my used capsules away for recycling.

My experience of on-line Nespresso service has always been positive, delivery has always been prompt, although they didn't take the used capsules away during Lockdown 1.0.

I've kept my original machine in case I want a frothy, milky coffee, but I'm very happy with the Vertuo.

We've got an Essenza Mini for when we go touring, and whilst it's perfectly good (ideal in fact as it's tiny and fits in the Griff) it is a bit flimsy compared to our daily Latissima jobbie in the kitchen. Small water tank and capsule collector would be the main points to note.

As others have said, they're all the same inside.

Enjoy. The milk wand is so much better than the Latissima thing.
