I've just returned from Aldi with three bottles of gin.
La fleuriste - the French grape gin
Needle - the German Blackforest one
Topaz blue - I assume a Bombay sapphire rip - off.
Will see what they're like soon. Has anyone bought and tried any of the new Aldi gin range yet? Are they any good?
No, but damn you as this post made me pop to Aldi and I've just returned with 2 bottles of gin, a load of Christmas gingerbread stuff and some screwdriver bits I don't need La fleuriste - the French grape gin

I opted for the Needle Black Forest and the Irish Boyles.
Tempted to pop back and get the French grape gin too.
The Needle gin seems to have been well received in the Aldi food thread.
Not opened the other two yet but did buy a bottle of White;y Neil Rhubarb and Ginger gin in the meantime so now have a few unopened bottles to enjoy over Christmas.
Evening all, I'm a relative newcomer to this gin lark (a sheep following the latest hipster trend ) and looking for some advice please. I've recently bought my first 'proper' gin - Hendricks and think it's lovely. Can anybody point me in the direction of anything that is along the same lines that a Hendricks lover might also like?
Short of looking at the websites and choosing the one that catches my eye (after reading through the thread that's Botanist, Isle of Harris, Bathtub and Martin Miller) I'm a little stuck and at £30+ a bottle more often than not I want to try and give myself a chance of getting something else I might like. Perhaps a sort of tasting sampler may be in order as I struggle to get out much to sample them by the glass.

I think Gin Mare might suit you. Hendrick is quite a light tasting gin to me so that is similar but different. I found Botanist a bit bland.
Maybe something like the Green/Summer Hortus(lidl) or a Finnish one called Napue.
Bathtub is quite robust, I really like it but its nothing like Hendricks.

Go and find a gin bar and work your way along the rack.Short of looking at the websites and choosing the one that catches my eye (after reading through the thread that's Botanist, Isle of Harris, Bathtub and Martin Miller) I'm a little stuck and at £30+ a bottle more often than not I want to try and give myself a chance of getting something else I might like. You'll forget which one you liked best by morning, but it'll be a bloody good night.

Go on then, mainly the OH’s obsessions, and credit to her it’s gone on way before the latest hipster trend, but who can argue a G&T is a fine drink, always has been!
Just need to get some lighting in the shelf now to light them up!
First time I've seen anyone else with Citadelle, my OH's favourite. First bought it six or seven years ago from Gerry's in Soho and have had to hunt it down ever since although Amazon now sell it. She says their reserve gin is even better.Just need to get some lighting in the shelf now to light them up!
I took her to the Burleigh's Gin School earlier in the year, really interesting afternoon, huge G&Ts served and mucho brownie points earned. Can definitely recommend it.
How many on here are Craft Gin Club members and do you feel it's good value for money and worth doing?
I'm far from wealthy so would be bi-monthy and still feel it's quite a commitment. But it'll be an Xmas treat (for a few boxes at least) and I do like the idea of fine gins just appearing on my doorstep.
Someone talk me into or out of it!

I think it’s reasonable value but I have had a couple of gins that I’ve not really enjoyed which are languishing at the back of the cupboard. I’ve also had some which I’ve really loved so on balance it’s paid off in that sense. If money is tight I’d probably just take recommendations or simply purchase gins I’ve tried when out. I’m going to a gin festival next weekend so I’ll keep a note of any I particularly enjoy and buy them in.I'm far from wealthy so would be bi-monthy and still feel it's quite a commitment. I got rid of it after they gave 3 pretty crap gins in a row. Never had anything where I thought "wow, such good value." Just prefer to choose my own now.I'm far from wealthy so would be bi-monthy and still feel it's quite a commitment. problem is that everyone in the world seemingly is making their own gin now. It is quite easy to do, doesn't require much in the way of equipment if you just buy in the neutral spirit, so small producer does not imply high quality... so the use of the 'craft' term is somewhat dodgy.
Just chuck the spirit into a sealed pot with any old things you might refer to as botanicals, aromats or herbs but might in reality just be leftover kitchen cupboard contents and then leave it for a bit. Print a label on the computer and either bottle it yourself or send to a bottling co. Or even better cut a deal with the 'craft gin co' where you don't need to do labelling or bottling at all as they do their own little bottles, they do all your marketing, distribution, everything and probably take a gigantic cut as a result.

I'd say it was not bad VFM.
You are not getting a bargain but they are not ripping you off either. Your personal preferences will impact is a particular gin is worth it. I've had a few I wasn't keen on but there were no bad gin's.
I get it quarterly.
Try it you are not committed for a year or anything.
