Nah mayo shouldn't be cooked, it goes weird.

Buttering the outside of the bread for a toastie is a must though.
Sarah and I must have been imagining how nice the results are then. We've been doing them like this for years.

People enjoy all kinds of weird st smile. Can't say it appeals to me though, I'll probably just stick with the butter.

I am definitely going to have a cheese and mushroom toastie for dinner tonight though, might even make it a french toastie.

As said mayo instead of butter and a bit of grated cheese on the outside which goes crispy.
vomit mayo should never be cooked
Try it, you'll love it, I promise.
Well I admit I have not tried it - I just imagine it to go all congealed and weird like if you leave mayo on your plate and the next day it's kinda all dried up and hard...
vomit Mayo should never be left on a plate overnight (neither should any other food that won't be consumed the following day).

It's not massively different TBH, but we think better.

It give's it a subtle tangy-creaminess, and a slight fried bread crunch. It makes them a bit more golden also. Just spread very thinly, as per marg/butter.

I’d never heard of buttering the outside until we got a Duralit toaster and it was recommended in their instructions. From then on I always butter BOTH sides thumbup

As posted on Sunday page 1, it's still the best cheese toastie ever. Bloomer, split tin, whatever, it always works.
