What’s everyones views on the flat rate service charge that JustEat et al have introduced to get round the new card charge law?
Haven’t been on to notice. Is it, surprise surprise, 50p? craigjm said:
Based on the amount that Just Eat charge the take away I am amazed they have the cheek to ask the punter for an additional 50p
Just Eat are quite bad. They charge a restaurant 14% commision plus add on fees and VAT on a order so it's close to 20% of the final order and the business essentially pays VAT twice on an order but if you think they are bad then look at Uber Eats. They take 35% commision on a order as well as charging £2.50 for delivery from the customer. I have no idea how so many business are happy to join them, especially the lower end joints that probably end up making a loss on orders.Edited by anonymous-user on Wednesday 17th January 20:32

35%!!! Never realised it was that much!Edited by DoodoolTala on Wednesday 17th January 20:32
Now I understand why portion sizes often seem smaller via Deliveroo than eating at the restaurant itself...
JustEat’s charge I don’t understand. Other than the platform, which is easily replaced by a cheap website with e-shopping functionality, what benefits do they offer the restaurant? At least Deliveroo/Uber take care of the delivery...

a grubby takeaway that can't afford to create their own website could join it and gives a sense of it being established/reputable/decent when it well could be a load of crap. Now I understand why portion sizes often seem smaller via Deliveroo than eating at the restaurant itself...

East z east is alright but it's no better than Swadesh or any number of other city centre curry houses.
Swadesh recently got shut down for a couple of days for being incredibly dirty, I know people who got sick there after eating. This has put me off tbh.I don't rate many places in the city other than east z and asha's tbh
on the curry mile I rate Punjab and mughli
