That looks like Five Guys?
Did they make that for you when you showed them a pic, or did you order separate items and assemble it yourself?

They made it for me. When it was handed over, the guy on the grill turned round and nodded knowingly #winning

Agreed, if it wasn't for the bright red chicken I'd almost say that's not dirty enough for here!

Ordered 4 poppadoms added onion and ended up with 4 onion portions, enough to feed an army!

There's a local (independant) pizza place near me.

Does £11.99 any size all week (excluding XL)
the XL is 18" and sells for £20.
the size down from that is 15".

so I'm wondering if the extra £8 is worth an additional 3 inches. (oo err)

If my math is correct, the answer is no

Well if you calculate the area, a 15" pizza is about 706 sq-in, whilst an 18" is 1018 sq-in so about a ~45% improvement. An additional £8 over the £12 is an additional 66% price increase. So my reckoning it's better value to buy 2x 15" pizzas. Although in fairness this doesn't take into account topping coverage percentage.

Awaits someone to tell me my workings are wrong (which they probably are)

The 15" has an area of 1140 cm2 = 95cm2 per £
The 18" has an area of 1642 cm2 = 82cm2 per £

So - not worth it at a £ per CM basis.

Edit - Tallow beat me to it.

wow, some responses i never expected. lets take this further.

the same place also does BOGOF (excluding the 18"). The large15" pizza is £17.99.

so which is better value?

one 15" pizza at £11.99
or
two 15" pizza for £17.99 (an additional £7 for another pizza).

I suppose the BOGOF makes more sense. but do I really want to be eating nothing but pizza for the rest of the week?

You need to know topping to cm2 to make an informed decision, along with crust area to pizza topping area. The extra size might just be all dough.

The only way for us to be sure is to get an order in for a large and a pair of mediums. Not Derek Acorah obvs.

Then I think we need a thorough regimen of weights and measures to form a judgement.

well here it is. thing that struck me was how light a a 15'' thin crust felt. topping coverage on a standard double pep double cheese is rather good.
