Is that bread and cheese in the background. Filthy indeed
Bread and butter more likely in York’shire.
It’s an inch thick ffs
What is? It’s just a stack of 4-5 slices of standard bread

Just regular bread by the look of it, 4 slices with butter or margarine.

Hopefully the fish was cooked in dripping.

Up home (Wakefield) visiting mum.

Had Fish’n Chips ..... Special Haddock, chips and a Potato Scallop and curry sauce. Fish was double size of plate - hence been stacked double.
What's special about it?

In Scotland normal = batter, special = breadcrumbs.

I think you are right, it was supposed to be a madras. Almost too hot for me, when I order a vindaloo it has potatoes in it.

The chicken tikka that turned out to be tandoori chicken was the starter.

Could be the size, or fish species.

Say, plaice is a special (cooked to order).

In Yorkshire a "special" is a much bigger piece of fish. 50-100% bigger. Same batter and still cooked in dripping.

Cheers Vaud - spot on - a special is a larger piece of fish (Haddock by default in West Yorkshire). All cooked in beef dripping (along with the chips and the potato scallop)

Check out Man vs. beard fish’n chips challenge in Osset (just up the road) 32oz fish plus chips and sides ....

The 4 slices of buttered bread was for 3 of us (2 for me ....)

You've ruined the football for me!!!

Been at work all afternoon, just finished, managed to stay off the Internet (apart from certain threads on here) and I'm going home to watch the highlights and that, now I'm sad (but at least 1 leg of my accumulator has come in).
