I made some 'bread'. It wasn't a great success to be honest.

Was that made in a bread machine? It looks as if the mix could have been way too dry. Did you weigh/measure the ingredients accurately?

Singlecoil, do you ads cheese into the scone dough or just on top?

Normally make fruit scones, but the money shot inspired me to try cheese some time.

Both! And you can add sliced cheese when it's time to eat them!

We put quite a lot in the dough, which might be why they didn't rise quite as much as we would have liked, but who cares, the cheesy goodness is that bit more concentrated and the texture is slightly firmer, even slightly crunchy in places.

You have absolutely got to try it.

And post some pics of the fruit scones next time you make them, 'cos I like them too.

I've just asked, it was 75 gms of strong cheese to 225 gms of flour.

It was made in a bread machine and yes the mix was way too dry.

I bought a 500g bag of bread mix and quickly glanced at the instructions on the back. I saw the amount of water for 400g and 600g but not 500g. I thought this was fking stupid. So I did maths and put in 195g ml of water as it's midway between 160ml and 230ml.

I didn't notice that the grams on the back relate to the machine size and not the mix. Bad design.

Better luck next time. Why don't you contact Wrights to tell them that their instructions could be clearer — looking at that label, there's definitely 'room for improvement'.

Try Aldi bread mix, the chilli bread one is delicious and only 59p at the moment (normally 65p). Also available as crusty white, parmesan (both good) and whole meal (not so good).

I use my bread maker to mix the ingredients on the dough setting, I then add whatever to the mix, nuts, seeds, herbs chilli etc and then prove it, knock back & put it in a tin for the rise & cook in the oven.
I find this more successful than the bread maker.
It's a great way to cook rolls.

BTW the loaf a few posts back was 300gms flour 180gms water.

First try of carrot cake today. Burnt the top a bit becaise the mixture filled the tin too much so it has to stay in until the centre was baked through.

And the cream cheese frosting was weird and runny.

Wife says it tasted OK but it looks like st.
