Show us your whisky! Vol 2
Discussion
That sounds intriguing - don't think I have even seen a whisky using ginger beer casks before! There's one of their normal bottles in my local shop, been wondering about it each time but end up not prioritising it.
Sorry, it was that the bottles arrived in the post, not that I was opening them then. I know a lot of people prefer vertical tastings, but I generally like to have them one at a time to taste them properly. I opened the 27yo Signatory Glenugie tonight. A lot of white wine, both on the noise and the taste to me. Fruity though, creating an interesting sweet and acidic combination. Not the type I would typically choose, but interesting to taste and I enjoyed it, particularly once given time to open up more in the air.

Starward's regular whisky, for a young whisky (it's only 5 years at release), is pretty damn good. Gordon Ramsey actually serves it at his signature restaurant in London and his beverage manager is a Scotsman! They also do one, again under the New World Projects label, that is aged in Pedro Ximinez casks. I really like that one.
Just got an automated email alert from TWE... which I set up in 2013...

I realize this makes me a heathen in this thread, but it was very good.
Fellow heathen here! I love the Eagle Rare 10 year old. They do a 17 year old that is a bit more expensive...https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Grocery/Eagle-Rare-Bour...

Asda now sell the 10 year old along with an expanding selection of ryes and bourbons, its taken a few years but we actually have a modicum of choice now!
I've got a quite few unopened that will be opened at some point!Eagle Rare
Wild Turkey 101
Wild Turkey Rare Breed
There's a fair bit of snobbery about bourbon, but some of it is as good as malt whisky to me. Buffalo Trace is an absolute bargain, and I had a bottle of Elijah Craig a while ago which was simply superb.
