tried to get an Ardcore but the web shop pissed me off. I went there at 10 on the dot and was told i was in a queue and had to just wait. This is kind of fine if you had some kind of feeling of where you are in the queue, but there was no indication and it said that people would be randomly selected from the queue. So, i just had to sit there and stare at it unblinkingly, which I did for like 30 mins and then it said sold out.

That's how their queue usually works. The web page suddenly refreshes to a "Purchase" page when your duck is hooked off the stand.
If you don't get picked, it's just a dead end.
Solution: pour yourself a drink

I also managed to bag a bottle of the latest Ardbeg Committee release 'Ardcore' this morning. Normally I check my emails too late and miss out. Anyone else get one?
Gave this one a miss. How much was a bottle?The_Doc said:

I'm an Ardbeg Committee Member (which is just a really up it's own way of saying I'm on their mailing list) and I'm yet to bother with any of these releases. I get enough enjoyment from their core range to he honest and going by the chatter above I can't see myself ever bothering to get involved with anything else.
Tonight I've poured a dram from a neighbour of theirs.

Boggo Laphroaig 10 is Prince Charles favourite, mine too
I like Laphroaig but have never been that enamoured with the standard 10 year old - personally I prefer the Quarter Cask (which has a higher abv.).That said I may have to try the cask strength when the next batch comes out.
I got a bottle of Highland Park Cask Strength batch 2 earlier this week - the highest strength whisky I have ever had at 63.9% abv!

Had the Nikka a few months ago at a hotel, very nice indeed. Quite like a Bourbon
Haven't tried many Japanese whiskies, but I do like the Coffey Malt. Always wondered why it comes with a screw top though, not usually something that shouts 'quality'. Not on-topic, but couldn't find a better place to put it... Anyone else heading up to Fèis Ìle this year?
It will be the first time for MrsC and I, so we'll have the bikes on the back of the car and we've made sure to book tickets to everything we wanted.
Any tips from seasoned veterans?

Indeed. I am surprised they had no security on site overnight. I guess they are small enough they won't have 24 hour shifts, but the value of ageing spirit alone you would think would demand a presence. The distillery is set quite far back from the main road, which itself is pretty quiet in the evening.

I've got a Coffey Malt on the go at the moment, personally I prefer thier "from the barrel", although some people probably turn thier noses up a bit at it being a blend.
I was very tempted by that From the Barrel and am not in the least bothered about the blended nature. I’ll enjoy the Coffey Malt for a few months but can see the Barrel dropping into my online trolley in coming months….Aces_High said:
