The BenRiach 12 yo Sherry wood tonight..

I was thinking about opening tonight a bottle of that that I have on the shelf.
What's it like? (Usually I like Oloroso finished whiskies)
Pretty much what I expected from a sherried speyside, smooth, sweet, rich with a bit of dried fruit and spice...

I originally went out to buy a Tomatin 14 yr old Cabernet Sauvignon, but ended up with this instead.

Doing fine! Bit tired this morning after a late night drinking some Uigeadail and Laphroaig QA casks, then F1 this morning! I'd forgotten just how strong Ardbeg can be relatively - it made the QA casks a smooth easy drink after, biggrin How about you?

In all honesty I am struggling this morning. Had quite a few nips last night so my heads a bit sore.

Apart from that, all good here! As for ardbeg.... I'll let you and Podie drink your ashtrays!

I can understand the feeling! Glad things are going well! That's very generous of you to leave enough ashtrays for us to drink!

Opened this today. Generally very nice - around a 87/100 or so IMO.

Trying to justify a purchase.

Hibiki 17 at £190. I like it a lot, but can't get past the 100% price increase. On the other hand I haven't seen a bottle in a while.

Can't decide........

It's only £124.95 at Master of Malt https://www.masterofmalt.com/whiskies/suntory-hibi...
that might make it more palatable. Currently out of stock though, but usually they let you go on a wait list.

I picked up a bottle of Hibiki Japanese Harmony Masters Select at the airport and I have to say it's a very nice NAS indeed. I paid about £64 at the airport I think.

More like a 280% increase during the past 8 years. yikes

At £190 it is not worth it IMO. (And I too like it a lot).

It could be worse, you could love Hanyu or Karuizawa, :P I wouldn't buy Hibiki at that price - at least not to drink a whole bottle myself.

I opened this today. I bought it in Germany a while back completely blind, so it was a bit of a gamble. It's a bit different to your "typical" Macallan. Fresh, malty and citrus on the noise. I'd have probably have placed it as what I imagine an older version of a Mackmyra will be like from the taste!

A drop of this tonight, smooth, full of fruits and at under £45 an absolute bargain.

Sampled both of the Glenglassaugh's over the weekend, both nice but showing their youth a bit. I'm certain as the distillery progresses to aged whiskies over the coming years they will be sought after.

Did anybody else get the new HP single cask release today? I was sitting in the back of a meeting trying to subtly press F5 for ages, laugh

I wasn't in to Whisky back then so can't complain about that price, but when you put it like that it makes that price harder to swallow.

Sometimes this overseas/airports purchases turn out quite well. smile

Didn't know that HP came out yesterday although I don't really drink it at all. I'm quite lucky in that I rarely have to be subtle. Normally it is a case of 'I'm trying to buy some whisky. Give me a few minutes' which now met with a cursory nod and a look of not again.... hehe
