It was delicious thanks! Though it probably good have come out a touch sooner.
When I bought it, the butcher was bemused by my plan to cook and eat it like this!!!
Had a recommendation actually which I will try next time and that is for Onglet (or Hanger Steak). I am told this particular cut is difficult to get hold of but unparalleled in terms of flavour. Will endeavour to find some and report back.
Yes my butcher was surprised too. As I said to him it's a seriously tasty bit of meat though and as long as you slice it on the diagonal it's tender enough. And cheaper than mince, what's not to like! When I bought it, the butcher was bemused by my plan to cook and eat it like this!!!

Yes I have had hanger in a restaurant before and it's divine, I'm not sure my other half is ready for it yet though.

Yes, always slice across the grain or you will be chewing for half an hour!Yes I have had hanger in a restaurant before and it's divine, I'm not sure my other half is ready for it yet though.

I did Hanger steak the other week in the Uuni, I was after 'Black and Blue'. My Butcher had plenty of it, that piece cost me a fiver
That looks absolutely delicious! I've been keeping an eye on this thread for a few months now, and just couldn't make my mind up between the latest version of the uuni and the roccbox. Friend of mine has an uuni 2, and whilst it made very tasty pizza, keeping the wood pellets topped up seems to require a fair amount of focus so that it didn't go out or the temperature fluctuate too much. This was a bit too much faffyness for me as I know I'd forget to keep an eye on it. After waiting the whole of the summer I eventually relented and bought a roccbox - I'm very pleased (and indeed fatter), although just used gas. Annoyingly I've missed the summer because of indecision, so for anyone else thinking about it, just do it!The steak thing looks superb, can't wait to try that!

Interesting! I love my Uuni, but yes there's a deal of focus - I'm also struggling a little now and then with controlling the temperature and burnt the underside of a garlic bread last weekend. Still love the Uuni though, but so do my parents... I'm living at theirs at the moment while in the middle of buying a new place and I can see taking the Uuni might cause some upset!!!
So... I'm considering leaving it with them and treating myself to a Roccbox. At £500 it's a massive indulgence though, especially when I have so much else to buy.
But as I'm living on my own, I sort of reason that being able to fire up on Gas to do one Pizza just about justifies it....

Thanks for posting
Look forward to your thoughts on how it compares.
Gave it a go yesterday, bit in two minds over it when comparing it to the 2 or 3. Look forward to your thoughts on how it compares.
Bearing in mind I only had pellets to use, definitely felt like it took longer to get going. Took about 20 mins to get to 350, and struggled to get it up to 400+ without a little blast from the hairdryer at the back of the pellet tray. It's nicer to have the space to work inside the oven, and with the double insulation I think it held temps a lot better than the 2 I have. You still have the usual temperature variation once the door opens and the work associated with making sure the pellets are topped up etc.
Will need to try it using charcoal and wood next time and the gas burner once it turns up I suspect temperature shouldn't be an issue then.
Overall I think unless your specifically wanting to cook larger pizzas or cook other things like breads etc, then for the price I think I'd stick to the 2s/3. They are far more portable and with the gas attachments that are due to come for them too, there isn't really that much in my mind separating them.
I think the pro would be great for cooking slabs of meat in,

Uuni Pro gets a review in the Guardian. So should sell a few to hipsters over winter.

I gave up on trying to have a combination pizza oven/BBQ after spotting a bit of a deal....
Wandered in to the local Homebase at the end of September, saved a lot of money by picking up some ex-display end of season models:
The BBQ raises the fire deck to meet the grill, which is a neat little toy!
Pizza oven will be used for a family gathering over Christmas, cooking for 15 people

The Uuni Pro just seems a tad too clunky. As a 2S owner I’m leaning more towards one of the ready built fixed ovens available on eBay for that sort of money
Yeah, I used an Uuni in the summer, and it was a cracking bit of kit, worked really well... but I remember, usually when I am doing Pizza, we tend to have a load of people over, and the ability to do more than 1 is a massive plus. My intention was to put a Braga 100 in from eBay, they look excellent, ran out of time this summer though!Gassing Station | Food, Drink & Restaurants | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
