Marmite is just a brand name. Own brand yeast extract is exactly the same and much cheaper.
I'm sure they're all made in the same factory but I think the different supermarkets might have slightly different recipes. Tesco own-brand for me.I second the peanut butter & Marmite on toast suggestion and also adding it (Marmite) to beef gravy.

My dad is a Marmite fan so I got him a Marmite easter egg. It claimed on the packaging to be Marmite flavoured chocolate.
And it is! My wife bought me a box of Marmite chocolates - but not all are 'infused' with it so it's a bit of a lucky dip. Fortunately both varieties are patatable (to me at least)SilverSixer said:

I've just recovered from fainting after reading this post.Whaaaaaat!! Own brand over the real thing!! That's like a fake Rolex over the genuine article.
Pass the smelling salts.
I eat loads of marmite and this is a well known fact throughout my family and friends so I have a small collection of Marmite goodies including a silver jar lid (which is all tarnished and chucked in a drawer). I also had a good few bars of Marmite chocolate.
I fking hate it and every time I say that I don't like it someone else will buy me another. I had managed to get rid of it all, bam Easter, two more bars.

Marmite pasta - easiest meal for kids in the world. And adults.
Melt some butter and marmite together in a pan.
Boil pasta
Add a bit of the cooking water to the marmite/butter.
Mix with pasta.
Grate cheese over the top.
That sounds handsome. Will try this. ThanksMelt some butter and marmite together in a pan.

Vegemite is really meant to eaten with a fair bit of butter from an Aussie ex.
Ah right! Didnt know that, binned it now though. Ill try it next time he is over lol.I made sausage hash last night with a teaspoon of marmite. Bloody lovely!
I recently went out for a burger and a friend ordered "love / hate fries" - essentially fries but with a coating of marmite that's been mixed with butter and a pot of this coating as a dip. I tried one having not liked Marmite for around 40 years, I've since finished 2 large jars of the stuff in the past month or so, it's like crack.
Presumably my taste buds finally matured enough to appreciate it.
