thats a healthy portion of chips, Nothing grinds my gears more than physically being able to count the number of chips by eye.
I got a stack of 3x3 chips in the last place I ordered some next to the burger on the plate like a really st game of jenga. I nearly complained but instead tuttet fairly quietly to myself.

One of the best burgers I've had came with a lattice of huge chips like that. They were huge and very good. I don't mind that so much.

Was at The George in Eartham, W Sussex - sadly that chef didn't last long.

Au Cheval in Chicago. Voted USA Food Network best burger in America. They do a Single (2 patties) and a Double (3 patties), with bacon comes in about $22 and fries are $7 when you include tax.
It is an amazing burger and the bacon is about 5mm thick and cooked in honey - (which is delicious).
Not uncommon to have to wait 4 hours for a table (although typically if you join the queue to get in 30mins before it opens you can get a table).
Should be on the visit list if you are ever in Chicago.

4 Hours for a burger??? Can you at least leave your number and come back when (if) a table is ready?

Even the most Insta-trending places in London don’t have such long waiting times

Burger looks OK, pointless garnish. What is it with Americans and their insistence on a pickle with their burger?

Yeah they take your number and call you when your table is ready. You get 10mins to get there (with your entire party) and they are strict...

They love them for some reason. One of the longest lines at the last beer festival I went to was for pickle flavoured beer.

Meanwhile my flight was delayed so, smugly knowing that someone else will pick up the tab, I had a £26.95 rib burger from “The City” at London City airport.

One smallish patty with cheddar, bacon and a small dollop of braised short rib.

It was generally underseasoned and a bit soulless, but the patty was actually cooked a decent shade of pink and the rib added a pleasant extra dimension. Bread unfortunately fell apart halfway through and was weirdly briochy inside but not outside?

Came with chips cooked in weeks old oil, also under/unseasoned, and slaw made exclusively of red cabbage and runny mayonnaise.

Could have been worse but for the price, Shake Shack would have regaled me with 2 excellent burgers and fries...

Dude, I love a good burger as much as, or if not more than, the next guy. Four hours wait for a burger? Does it come with a blowjob too?

They are a great accompaniment, and cut through rich, fatty burger ingredients (like bacon, cheese and beef) well.

As does raw onion. Two essentials with a burger imo, can take pickles either within or on the side.
If your burger doesn't need something to cut through the grease, it's not greasy enough! Needs 15-20% fat to make a good juicy burger

Well.... they are really really good, and the 4 hour wait is a good indication of that. I've lived near there for a while and it's not a fad, the place is still crazy busy after 5 years with no sign of abating (people queuing outside in -20c is almost a bit cultish tbf).

Off to Patty & Bun (Hackney) for the first time this evening hopefully, any reccomendations?

I'm contemplating
1x ari gold (single patty)
1x jose chili burger (double patty) OR the smokey robinson
- cant decide on what side though.

For comparison I've only been to MeatMission/Meatliquor, Shake shack, Byron, and I would rate them from best to 'worst' in that order.

I would recommend the Brisket Fries - they are awesome.

Maybe I need to take a road trip for the burger...

I tried Wahlburger today.

Had the Double Decker and the sweet potato balls or what ever they call them. $20 (CAD).

it's a 'meh' from me. Maybe the single would have been better - there's nothing wrong with it but there is nothing really stand out about it either. They also don't fry off the onion which makes it a bit strong for my tastes and their sauce was totally lost.

Don't think it is as good as Rudy's which is a few blocks away.

Tried the double with cheese from In and out...Had high hopes but unfortunately left a little underwhelmed. I'll stick with Shake Shack for my quick burger fix.

Also recently visited the Heart Attack grill. Kept it simple with a bacon cheese burger with mustard and ketchup...I really enjoyed it. Bacon was a little hard for my taste but over all It was decent.

Stopped at The Carrington Arms in Moulsoe on Sunday whilst out on the bikes. Had their Lumberjack Burger:

‘The LumberJack’, Steak Burger, Pulled Cross Key Farm Pork Shoulder, Woburn Black Bacon, Lord of the Hundreds, Crispy Shallots, Red Cabbage Slaw, Barbecue Sauce.

It was absolutely fantastic (despite being served on a plank of wood but that's a separate gripe). It's so damn rare to find a burger where you can taste all of the separate ingredients.

Yeah, £14. I've had significantly worse burgers for more money. Pretty sure they make their own burgers, too.
