In answer to that question, is what would I like in Nando's the answer would be silence.

This is because I wouldn't have stepped inside the place, tried it, hated it.

Sorry.

I went once and I don't think it's possible to be more underwhelmed and over charged. I just don't get it.

Nor me. Its a good business model though, charge the gullible twerps 2 or 3 times the price of KFC for similar crap while still making them order at the till.

Nando's really brings out the worst of try-hard internet snobbery here.

For me, it's absolutely fine value, and I don't see why some people try so hard to look down their noses at it.
I can walk through the door, spend ~£10 (half chicken and two sides), eat reasonably swiftly with cutlery in a relatively civilised environment (more so than fast food 'proper') and leave feeling satisfied in about 30-40min.
I can't think of many other places where all of the above is possible, and (based on previous threads) when pressed neither can the snobs. Yes, you might have to order at a counter, but the overall experience is in an entirely different league to McD's or KFC. When you consider that "meals" at McDonald's can regularly cost upwards of £6, this makes Nando's look like a bargain.

I just don't get the reason why the snob brigade here race each other to jump on any thread about Nando's. My last two meals out in the past couple of weeks were Dinner by Heston (third time!) and Borough Market Hawksmoor. I wouldn't hesitate to head to Nando's if I was hungry and wanted something quick/cheap/simple.

Same as everywhere now really, just mass produced st. With drinks and tips it's not cheap. I went to zizzis didn't pay thankfully, had a tiny plate of spag bog, and a garlic pizza. Could have cooked better at home and would have been tastier. That's the rub, most restaurant food now isn't worth the premium.

Doesn't it just! Sheesh! But this is PH, if you're not licking caviar off a hookers tits then head to the council thread! Personally its not for me, don't overly enjoy it, but you could do a lot worse. I think the only reason I have been felt short changed by it though, is the over hyping it got before my visit! If I came across and was out with the usual suspect options, ok, I wouldn't choose to head out for it though, its easier and better to recreate at home!

To say that on the burger thread you're playing the each to their own tactic over a burger that is on the raw side of pink with solid unmelted cheese, some would eat it and some wouldn't, and that's fair enough in my book.

But then you also went on the offensive to another poster with the following

C70R said:
Jesus. You're working pretty hard to rubbish other people's opinions.

"Plenty of people have said they wouldn't touch it with a bargepole".
What does that even mean? Does it make your opinion more right than mine? Does it de-legitimise the view that I'd eat it if I were offered it?

You really shouldn't try so hard. Or perhaps direct your efforts elsewhere.
Then dive into this thread claiming folks are just being snobby, as opposed to "having tried it, don't like it." Nothing to do with being snobby, seems you can't now accept people having different tastes.

Despite the bit...

Think you should take your own advice and direct your hypocritical efforts elsewhere. Or maybe you're just here to create an argument in which case the same applies.

You're trying much too hard. But I suppose you're only going to hit 30k posts with that kind of dedication.

If you engaged your brain a little before you read my posts (across any thread you'd care to stalk me on), you'd see that I'm consistent in being frustrated with people trying to force their views on others.
In this case, answering the question "what would you order in Nando's" with "I'd never go there because I'm not a prole".
In the case of the burger thread, trying to explain to the hard-of-thinking that pink=/=raw=/=unsafe and some people might like it cooked that way (even if they are repeatedly saying that they personally don't).

Ive been twice.

I'm not a fan of chicken on the bone so I don't go anymore.

I will buy their sauces from the super markets though and chuck them on some chicken breasts if I am bbq'ing.

Not stalking you, don't think you're worth that frankly. Perhaps picking you up on your inconsistencies seems to have touched a nerve.

Has anybody actually said not going there because I'm not a prole. No they haven't to my knowledge. Stop trying to put your words in other folks' mouths. In my case, the first post you quoted, it's simply a case of, tried it, didn't like it, not going again. But somehow in your twisted mind I'm trying to force my views on others by simply answering a simple question.

Others the same. Others like it, again that's fair enough. It seems that you're trying to force your views on others by accusing and insulting them and not accepting their opinion is different.

You are a first rate hypocrite, but you just can't see it. Anyway no doubt you'll now come out with some more condescending twaddle, which will be ignored.

Agree with c70R, why people feel the need to come on a thread like this and say how they are above nandos therefore wouldnt bother I dont know!

Anyway,

Hummus + Drizzle

Butterfly burger, hot (eat one breast on its own, other stays in the burger)

Peri chips

Coleslaw

Hallumi (one on its own, one in the burger)

In all honesty i have eaten at some very nice places which has been reflected in the price. However i do not live near to many of them, since they are mostly in central London. Nando's offers what i believe is good food at a good price, but i guess we can all afford different levels of cars and different levels of food. Not to say anyone is right or wrong, but me, the wife and the kids have always enjoyed the food and our time at Nando's. Not more than once a month mind.

You took the time to come to a thread about what Nando's eaters like to order, just to proudly proclaim that you "hated it"?
And I'm condescending? laugh

Hummous? It's not a Lebanese place.
Hallumi? In Nandos? Whats that all about.

Main + sides + tap water + chocolate fudge cake + 20% discount = done.

Its a quick meal out, not proper meal out. Not 'out, out' as Micky Flanagan would say.

Hummous is popular nowadays, they're adapting to changing tastes, plus vegans/vegetarians can eat it too.
hallumi? same thing, more popular and can be eaten by vegetarians.

this means with a group of friends (1 vegan and 2 vegetarians) we no longer need to go to Wagamamas for the 900th time and could go to Nandos. Just like how KFC adapted and made grilled chicken for the 'health concious' people and possibly to eat into some of the nandos customers.

I agree with what a poster said about pricing at time. A big tasty meal is £6 and doesnt fill you up much, it tastes crap if the burger is not freshly made or constructed properly. BKs stuff are slightly more expensive, all in all for not much more you're getting nicer food at Nandos. And as for time, comparing Nandos to other chains like Chiquitos, Franky&Bennies, Garfunkels etc.. if you go in there you're wasting 2-3 hours eating. With nandos you could be in/out within an hour. It doesn't feel greasy or heavy in your stomach like fast food might and TBH alot of the fried chicken shops that serve peri-peri stuff is expensive and not very good.

Fair point, but unlike hummous/halloumi the Nando's 'Choc-A-Lot Cake' is not generic tasting that can be bought anywhere - give it a try lick

I love hummus and hallumi. Just don't see Nando's as a place to order any starters, we only look at the mains- but thats probably as my cake is a fiver hehe OH orders veggie like the Portabello Mushroom main sometimes when not in a meat mood.

I used to enjoy Nandos, and still would if they served free range chicken, but unfortunately, having gone looking further into animal welfare as a result of a thread on here about Halal butchery, I'd now go to McDonalds rather than Nandos if forced to take either route, purely as I can then eat beef rather than chicken, safe in the knowledge that the animal will have had a far better life.

Also, if anyone thinks Halal butchery is an issue, they seriously need to look at the welfare involved in rearing the animals for the weeks before they reach the abattoir before they worry about the 30 seconds after things get going there.
