Which Hawksmoor?

Personally, I'd got for Seven Dials. Subterranean, dark, atmospheric and I've had the best food there. Very close to Covent Garden tube and you can walk past Pineapple dance studios and gawp at the girls in tight leggings if you're that way inclined.
A close second is Air Street. On a first floor with huge frosted and coloured art deco windows. A bit less atmospheric but maybe it was due to the time of day we visited.
To add to this, Borough is very much like a smaller version of Air Street. Spitalfields, while I like it, doesn't really feel quite as special as the others.A close second is Air Street. Went to MASH last night - fastastic as ever. I used to go to the various branches in Denmark and have never had anything I've not enjoyed there ( apart from the bill , but its not an everyday restaurant )
I've only been there once, probably a couple of years ago, and fully expected it to be shut by now. Not a reflection on the food or service - it just seems like such a large restaurant to keep busy.Alex said:
I had a booking at Borough for 6 people, but our party has grown and we've had to switch to Guildhall branch.
How is the Guildhall branch? Not been to this one before.
Nice location - not dissimilar to the Covent Garden branch if I recall correctly - nice atmosphere and good food. How is the Guildhall branch? Not been to this one before.

That old ballroom does look like it would be a hard one to fill , but they seemed to do a good job of it!joshleb said:
Hawksmoor any good for a Sunday lunch?
Mother coming to London and we're looking for somewhere central that does a good roast.
Anywhere else anyone would recommend?
Not for 3 weeks, so hopefully should still be spaces.
Cheers
Roast at Borough Market has a good reputation and was good for evening meal when I went a few years ago - Could do the market first to work up an appetite, then eat! Mother coming to London and we're looking for somewhere central that does a good roast.

Thanks guys, going to go with Seven Dials or Spitalfields I think as the missus has been to Air Street before. Down for 2 days so just need to decide whether to go for dinner, Sunday roast or for one of the amazing looking breakfasts?!
Cheers again for all the advice, looking forward to this

I'm off to the Spitalfields one after work this evening (it's near where I work). Been a few times and it's always been good.Have also done Seven Dials a couple of times and the lvenue just edges it over Spitalfields for me.
My fave is the Air St one, mainly as its a nice room. Done Seven Dials many times, and Shoreditch a few also. The crowds differ pending where they are, which is why Goodmans always feels a bit stuffy for me, as does the Shoreditch Hawksmoor. Full of suits.
MASH is great but its dull, far too big, I've been 4 or 5 times and never sat within 10 feet of another table with people on I don't think!
Sunday lunch is good, but when I went Air St was full of kids. I don't want to be sat next to kids when I'm spending decent money on food. Especially not noisy ones!

Its quite nice I thought, downstairs, decent sized room and nicely done, the only one that does breakfast so I go a fair bit (its awesome for brekky!). Though again much more corporate in feel than somewhere like Borough. How is the Guildhall branch? Not been to this one before.

Had a roast there at Seven Dials and still stuffed.
What a roast I must say, probably one of the best roasts I've had out at a restaurant!
Also shared the smoked salmon and potted smoked mackerel between 3 as a starter and the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. All delicious!
Excellent, looking forward to next Sunday now What a roast I must say, probably one of the best roasts I've had out at a restaurant!

Just to put closure to this we went ti Hawksmoor Seven Dials yesterday and it was fantastic, went for Bone Marrow and onions to start which was great, then a huge Steak with the Sunday roast trimmings, and beef fat triple cooked chips. It was delicious, service was friendly and attentive, well worth the wait.
Oh and to whoever suggested the 'Shaky Pete's Ginger brew' I must say thank you, what a drink, can not think of anything that would hit the spot better in the roasting temperatures of the weekend
We were lucky with our food choices as a whole had the best eggs and bacon I have ever had out near Victoria on Sat morn and a cracking burger at a pub out in Spitalfields.
