Best combination of Burger and Ambience (London)
Discussion
Hi,
I'm looking for somewhere for a Thursday night out that serves a good burger, but in nice surroundings. So places like Patty and Bun are out, even though the burgers are fab. Some steakhouses have a good burger, but for many of them it's only available on bar menu. I've been to Cut at 45 Park Lane a couple of times, the burger is fantastic but only available in the bar. I've also tried Bar Boulud, and liked their burgers too but fancy trying somewhere different.
It must be somewhere that will serve the burger medium rare (so that it's actually pink in the middle) and has a reasonable wine list.
Any suggestions

I can't even imagine any really good ambience that would serve up burgers !I'm looking for somewhere for a Thursday night out that serves a good burger, but in nice surroundings. Are you sure you wouldn't prefer some proper food (as in normal quality restaurants) ?
Tricky combo to find.

Has been voted best burger in London.
You'll need more than one though.
Choice of sitting at the bar or in the restaurant, plus the rest of the food is superb.

Have a look at Mac & Wild.
I went to the opening of their Devonshire Square branch for a free burger. The bap was cold but the meat and fillings were excellent; great for a freebie.
As they were being dished out in the square itself I didn't see inside the restaurant but looking at their website, the inside looks good and the wine list plentiful.

Hawksmoor is great but it was very loud when I was there on a busy Tuesday lunch time. I know they did burgers and steaks but I had the chicken which tasted incredible.
You could try The Grill/The Promenade at The Dorchester. I can't remember which one but it's the restaurant that's directly in front of you as you walk in, the bar is on your left and it's directly in front of you. I went there after the London Marathon with friends and the burger was great! Much quieter than Hawksmoor too. Reservations can be a bit funny. It was v busy but we were lucky as the mother of the girl I was with is known there so they wanted to keep us sweet. Probably worth booking in advance for that one
Another one thats much lesser than most of the suggestions is Byron. When i'm in town for meetings or just wandering around with the wife we always make a stop here. Burger is always medium rare and pink. Meat is good, sides are good. I know they have a wine list but I've never tried it. Great for a quick and easy meal that's not too expensive or pretentious!

The Ivy looks good - but no chance of a table this week (should have mentioned it was this Thursday I was looking for). I will put that on my list.
The Opera Tavern is also on my list, but will wait a while as we went to Ember Yard quite recently
Not sure why, but the Meat Co doesn't grab me
I'm going to go for the bar at Hawksmoor in Seven Dials. Thanks for all the suggestions

I've been to Mac and Wild a couple of times since their burger had "best burger" award last year. To be honest I am not sure what the fuss was all about.
OP - as has been mentioned a really tough combo to work with. The problem is that the best burgers in my experience are from dive bars. We Serve Humans had the best burger I've ever tasted, they were based at the Bell near Petticoat Lane for ages then moved to a pub in Leyton. Sadly not the atmosphere you're looking for but worth looking out for if you're ever near there.

Great place with fantastic tapas. I nearly bankrrupted myself when I got a taste for their 5 year matured Iberico ham one afternoon with a few beers. Here:
