A lot of the drive thru McDonalds near me have been refurbished so that the drivers have a separate waiting/collection area. And to a degree it works. You don't get the rude bds waving their phone around and shouting as you collect your order.

The problem still are the town centre McDonalds where there are no drive throughs and you still have to mix with the delivery mafia. The worst time for any McDonalds is the Saturday after pay day. You'll see 40-50 orders all sitting on the wire shelf waiting for drivers.

Yeh, sorry, that's just me ordering my regular Saturday snack.

That's the balancing act I alluded to. I get DK's can cannibalise store sales, it boils sown to whether they assess the walk in experience is denigrated by the delivery operation running from store. I know from my own contacts MCD's has always been highly focused on the customer experience, so I doubt this stuff isn't a debate internally.

More or less on topic, a pal of mine had a few Subway franchises but got out in no small part because he watched new store openings on his patch, Subway being only too willing to undermine existing operators if someone was willing to stump up for a franchise, irrespective of local saturation.
McD's are definately aware internally of the issues as its a regular topic. McD's were late to the party with offering deliveries and unfortunately started just 3 weeks prior to lockdown so they were unable to work on the processes fully during this time. As the walk in side of the business was halted, they only had Drive Thur and Delivery so it wasnt too bad to manage. Throw in the customers returning to the stores internally and it can be carnage. The process for adding the delivery rooms has started across the UK but with the need to close a store for 4-8 weeks and the constraints on the P&L with rising costs, it has put the schedule back a fair bit.
McD's are good with locations and overlap. As long as the franchisee is following the franchisee standards etc then any new stores will be assigned to them especially if there will be impact in sales. Although never guaranteed, that has been what happens.

I think eventually there will be but, although we are busy with delivery, there are many other places that need them first. Think London, Birmingham etc first before they get to the rest of us.

Interesting.

Are they aware just how far standards have slipped in some stores? There are 2 i wont even enter as they are that filthy and poorly run.

Ive said before, im amazed they have allowed this to happen.

I would imagine so from what I am hearing. However, that would be a conversation between the relevant franchisee and McDonald's. If you have any specific concerns then customer services do escalate issues up the heirarchy which helps get the message to the right people. Always concerning to hear customers leaving the business and do feel free to message me if I can help pass on to the right people.

Its more the radius around the DK. The area is roughly 2-3 miles but each delivery company uses different methods. Just Eat use Polygons support by ElasticSearch so its not as the crow flies.

Thanks for answering.

Im not really one to complain. Not that you can as its automated and you wont recieve a reply. Which renders it a somewhat pointless excercise.

I just take my buisness elsewhere. As, no doubt will plenty of others.

The negative i guess is that affects the good ones as its all the same brand. As i said, im amazed its been allowed to happen as historically its been a masterclass in how to operate a franschise system.

Ill PM you the 2 really poor ones

I used to go way too often, maybe twice a week but haven’t been in a very long time now.

Like people say too much agro, long wait times, menu is a bit meh.
I go everyday.

"Are you using the McDisaster app today?"

"No, I'm driving a car through the drive through.. are you really encouraging people to hold their phone when driving a car?"

What message does this send to the younger generation?

I found that once they prioritised drive thru standards slipped for the normal customer. Then once deliveries began even the drive thru got neglected till now I can’t be bothered going in and only go through drive thru if nothing else around. All the delivery drivers inside doesn’t make it a nice place to sit in and eat.

Tried the Steakhouse Stack.

It's exactly what you'd expect; a burger that tastes like every other McDonald's burger but now it has peppercorn sauce.

Try the Burger King Peppercorn Angus. Hands down the best mainstream take away burger I've ever eaten.

I've had both and preferred the McDonalds one. Compared to a regular McDonalds's burger, it also has proper cheese, dehydrated crunchy onions and better salad. It's much better than a quarter pounder would be if you just added peppercorn sauce.

The Creme Egg McFlurry is back, which is great, but I'm sure you used to get more sauce and chocolate a few years ago. McFlurrys are always disappointing after you get half way through.

I went to BK the other day for a long time and had a Bacon Double XL, like I used to have over 20 years ago.

I added an extra patty, extra cheese and extra bacon. Why can’t I do that at McDonalds? I could add any of those things up to 10 times.
