maybe that explains it all...!

not sure how bk and kfc can justify the costs of their burgers compared to mcd's though even if they are better or worse in taste.
We don’t use special promo burgers to increase prices, that’s a load of rubbish. Purely economies of scale, we sell the most produce out of all of the fast food chains so we can buy at competitive rates. BK are only closing restaurants while we are growing our estate at circa 30 new Drive Thrus a year

I just walk up to the counter and order there.

Especially when there is a queue for the screens. smile

The problem with the get to the car park idea is that the car park is for restaurant customers. There needs to be a few high turn over spaces for app take away orders. You wouldn’t want people parking and eating what you have just given them either as you want the space turning over. I never understand why people drive thru then park in the car park and eat
I would far rather sit in my car than in the filthy restaurant - although I appreciate that some may be cleaned more frequently than others!

I don't think I've ever been in a "filthy" McDonalds. I don't eat in them often but every time I can remember there's literally been someone wondering around spraying and cleaning the moment anyone moves.

The one in Luton (never been before... Jesus what a dump) was rank. Food on floor and sticky tables. Slow staff and smelly locals too.

Discovered what is now my preferred MaccyD's burger yesterday out shopping with my boy.

Double cheeseburger customised with added bacon, extra onions and extra gherkin yum. All for the princely sum of £1.89. Stunning !!

Does anyone know how to add the Student Offers (free burger, McFlurry etc when ordering a value meal) with the new ordering screens? I'm yet to figure it out.

This absolutely.

I've not eaten at the Golden Arches for a few years, but of the big chains I'd always go to McD's first, KFC and Burger King franchisees aren't in the same league.
There is a league? BK better burgers better fries, KFC terrible fries but my god the chicken. You're right - McD are in the league below smile

The breakfast wrap was one of their best ever ideas. Just awesome with a sausage and egg muffin as a chaser...

Can't stand the Big Mac sauce, but love the Big Tasty - assume they don't have the BT sauce available when it's not listed on the menu?

For that matter, why isn't the BT a regular menu item?

Lastly, heard on the radio they're moving to only fresh (not frozen) patties in the States - wonder how kind before that gets rolled out here?

I’ve just snaffled one of those......not bad.

It did them two attempts though, the bacon was omitted on the first one delivered.

One huge positive of the new order system is being able to change the language when in Europe.

Hello from Geneva and what we have here is the most expensive McDonald’s burger I have ever seen!

Part of the Swiss signature range this burger is designed by Rene Schudel who is a celebrity chef over here. The prime contains two really good quality quarter pounders with lots of Gruyérie cheese, bite size pieces of bacon, a kind of raw coleslaw so carrot etc without the mayo, a tomato relish and something called farmer sauce (a kind of tomato and balsamic vinegar mayonnaise ) served in a bun that was half way to a bagel and topped with rocket! Never seen that in a McDonald’s burger before. Served with potato Rosti fries!

How much I hear you cry? About £16 after conversion! But in a country where a medium Big Mac meal is £10 that’s the equivalent of it being £7.20 in the U.K. using the Big Mac comparator.

They closed our local BK much to my disappointment as I’ve always considered it far superior. The McDonalds is more rammed than ever, the drive through spills out onto the street at times. The new ordering system seems to have created an atmosphere of confused chaos which doesn’t really help. I’m one of those weirdos that eats in their cars, it’s basically a toss up between watching kids in Hiluxes drive around like tools or listening to teenagers guffawing over too loud piped music. Regarding KFC, I don’t think I’ve been to one that hasn’t been filthy!

Mcvegan needs customising with bacon via the new ordering system, just for laughs

In Kingston last weekend and had one of those Grand Big Macs, it was a disappointment.

Food was ordered on one of those screens, no ticket emerged and I didn't note my order number in time before it reset back to the home screen, so I had to go and find someone, to be fair she was great, very helpful and she sorted our food all fine for us.

The last time I was in McDonalds, October I think in Brixton, we used the screen to order and it was a faff.

Fortunately I don't frequent McDonalds very often (twice in 6m, see above), so it's not great hassle, but I don't think it speeds things up for the customer, I guess it gives the "restaurant" more capacity.
