Mcdonalds new ordering system

In Kingston last weekend and had one of those Grand Big Macs, it was a disappointment.
Food was ordered on one of those screens, no ticket emerged and I didn't note my order number in time before it reset back to the home screen, so I had to go and find someone, to be fair she was great, very helpful and she sorted our food all fine for us.
The last time I was in McDonalds, October I think in Brixton, we used the screen to order and it was a faff.
Fortunately I don't frequent McDonalds very often (twice in 6m, see above), so it's not great hassle, but I don't think it speeds things up for the customer, I guess it gives the "restaurant" more capacity.
It eliminates waiting in the massive queues you used to get in the busier stores. I am a big fan, I don't mind waiting once I've placed my order but I used to hate picking the "wrong" queue and waiting ages to even place an order back in the day. I'm also a "plain" burger eater, so I can remove sauce, lettuce, onion etc and know the correct order has gone through. I haven't had a McD in ages so was pleasantly surprised to see the Liverpool Street Station completely devoid of queues on Friday. No cashiers or ten lines of hungry people waiting to be served - it now looks like a game show set in a big burger factory where the contestants 'win' helpings of food. :-)

I noticed this as well. That place used to be absolutely jam packed with people from morning until evening. Now it is pretty empty. So either the new system has been a massive success, or it has been a massive failure and everyone has abandoned McDs I strongly suspect the former

I ended up there just before midnight on Friday and it was complete mayhem. Obviously crowds of drunks don't help, but it was very overcrowded with people crowding round the tills waiting for a number to be called. And half the machines had run out of receipts. This has just popped up on Facebook - tripling the size of a breakfast muffin for £2.80. It refers to it as a 'hack' but it's just adding extra items using the self service machines:

You can get a half decent full breakfast at Wetherspoons for about half his total cost of 6.99 so I'm not sure why he's bothering.http://www.ladbible.com/community/uk-viral-food-ma...
