I wouldn't have even attempted to order a McD in Austria,my German is non existent.

Press button for English ,sorted.
Probably find they speak English in Austria... at least in my experience. Even in McD...

I came across the new system at Clackett lane services, ordering just a drink for my daughter & a coffee for me & it was about ten minutes hanging around, disappointing.

I've done a bit of logistics stuff with McDonald's over the years & I've learnt they're intently focused on the front of house experience which we all see - you don't really get dirty restaurants, overflowing bins, unpleasant loos & so on, within reason, given what it is, so my guess is this will be tweaked or changed or whatever until they get it right.

Love it...... it gets rid of those "what do you sell" people as they stand at the counter and order like the cavemen they are wink

takes me a few seconds

pay using my phone

sit down and it gets delivered with a straw and a napkin and some ketchup

and the signature collection - fantastic!!!

try going to GBK or Nandos and getting decent food, a drink, fast service all for under £6

haha

To be fair, GBK is probably a step up in ingredients quality from McDs.

They aren’t competing.

I think the screens are excellent. Big Mac with extra onion and no pickle and bought to my table when ready.

How do you order extra of something from a screen? every one I've seen allows you to "customise" but it just means remove stuff, not add.

GBK aren’t competing directly with McDonalds. Look at the prices, not the meal.

They are for sit down, family meals, maybe couples, probably competing against Pizza Express, Wagamama, maybe in-house Wetherspooons, etc. Pick your chain.

Through-put is not relevant... they are after different market demographics.

I like the ordering system but I'm not a fan of the increased wait time. Don't go in there too much but do get bored whilst waiting for my 'fast food'.

Had a leaflet through the door the other day that says I can have it delivered to my door. If only it was Burger King!

GBK is still an in and out restaurant like Nandos

i don't feel GBK is a £20 meal place though - its not 3x better tasting than maccyds

weatherspoons is just as good (worryingly) ha

I like them all smile

nom nom nom

My first experience of the new ordering system was in Le Mans last year - very PH! - and I liked it. I was pleased when they finally arrived here in Somerset and have never had issues with delays with them. I've even managed to use those WHSmith's vouchers you get on them.

I did have an issue when I wanted to pay cash the other week though. It didn't occur to me until I'd finished ordering that they don't take coins. So I cancelled payment, but that didn't cancel the order! So then I had to queue up to pay. A few minutes later my order was ready, so I jumped out of the queue to collect it and attempted to pay at the same time. Nope, not possible.

First world problems though - certainly not middle class problems! - and the food was still warm, thankfully, when I finally got my hands on it.

i had the same leaflet. delivered via Ubereats. what a time to be alive! i'm sure it was something some people wanted for decades. me? i'd never delivery order McDs. it's not something 5+ people suddently decide they want to oreder (with that many people you'd order a pizza, indian or chinese). not sure why anyone would also want a mcds burger that's been driven around for 30-45min too.

i remember quite afew years back someone tried to create their own business based purely on delivering KFC, BK and McDs for £5.99 ontop of the order. they got shut down very quickly.

The ordering system is fine in the 2 I occasionally use....the endless stream of tramps using the bogs is not however!

Or the entrance door, your money or go near anyone that breathes.
Oh and don't forget some bacterial wipes for your payment card after someone else has touched it too.
