Mcdonalds new ordering system

Last time I tried it you had to be at a restaurant to set up the card on the app. At which point it is quicker to order on the touch screen. It just seems a bit of a strange way of doing it.
I don't recall having to be at a restaurant when I sorted my card, I find the touch screens a little laggy whereas the app can be done in your own time and saved ready to be put to the scan point, and if your phone works fine it's not laggy or anything. I rarely use the touch screens anymore unless I'm using a voucher that can't be scanned on the app.

I would much rather use my phone, but I don’t see why they can’t just let you use Apple Pay, or at least let you set up your payment method when you’re not at the restaurant.

When I do it, I get this screen
Do you get that (minus the saved card)?

Yeah, but I can only enter card details after checking in at the restaurant.
Once entered, they'll be saved. Plus, if you have it on your phone where your card details come up automatically and you just put the 3 numbers on the back in, it's really simple.
I love the app anyway, best and worst thing about McDonald's at the moment.
Hadn't seen that.. Having McDonald's tonight as my wife is in hospital and I'm having to fend for myself tonight.
Difficult choice, try something I've not had before and possibly not enjoy it.. Or my usual Spicy Mayo Chicken Legend.
Whilst we're on the subject.. Please can anyone confirm they also have a double cheese chaser?
And maybe a snack wrap on the drive home?

Absolutely love it, can spec out gherkin and onions, add bacon to a double cheeseburger, have it maid fresh, take my time exploring all the new stuff, then sit down and have it brought over. For the man complaining about 14 min wait... ffs! You can spend 5 mins queuing easily that’s a thing of the past now. Everything cooked fresh, nice and hot. What’s not to like
The only issue I have with these screens is British people. I write this as a British person.
At the drive-thru the other week, youngest and I ended up parking up and walking in as there was a long queue. The only free screen was where those who had already ordered had decided they would now queue until their number was called. So I had to stand awkwardly at the screen.
Once I'd ordered, I was able to sit down next to youngest as he played on the iPads they've installed in the middle of the restaurant. I had a perfect view of the order progress screen and could stroll up once my number appeared as ready.
So why on earth was everyone else stood queuing???!!!

Wait around a bit more and you'll see why. Quite often the people who take a seat don't hear the staff member calling out their number due to the chatter in the restaurant. Their food then gets left on the counter until they get fed up of waiting, saunter up to the counter only to find their cold food / melting drink waiting for them.At the drive-thru the other week, youngest and I ended up parking up and walking in as there was a long queue. The more useful strategy with young kids when your restaurant offers it is table service. There's a stack of little numbered placards next to the self service screen.
Place your order.
Grab a placard and enter the number into the terminal.
Wait for member of staff to bring the food over to you.
(Saunter back over to the condiments and straw counter as the staff inevitably ignore your choice of dips).
