"You can save money at McDonald's this week. Yes, really.
All you've got to do is open the My McDonald's App,
complete your order, and enjoy your meal for less.
Spend £10, get £3 off
Spend £20, get £5 off"
erm, i'll just do 2 orders @ £10 each if I was spending £20 ...
Why would you do that? All you've got to do is open the My McDonald's App,

Presume you didn't read that you can only use each offer once?

In ecofarce news, turns out that their stty paper straws can't be recycled, whereas the plastic ones could be. NOW can we have proper straws back please? I note that BK and KFC stuck with plastic and didn't jump on the tokenism bandwagon.

paper is recyclable, plastic can be, but the truth is most plastics are just shipped abroad to 3rd world countries, so any change is good.https://metro.co.uk/2019/08/04/mcdonalds-is-re-lau...

Not only that, if they additionally take more resources and energy to make than the plastic ones, which they likely do, and if they cause more emissions in shipping them to restaurants because they're heavier and bulkier than the plastic ones, which they definitely are, then they're an absolute fail.

Not these straws though, the McDonalds internal memo says they must be put in the general waste.
''while the materials are recyclable, their thickness makes it difficult for them to be processed by our waste solution providers.''So a change in how they process waste is the issue. As I said they are recycable.

Its more than emissions, plastic straws can be recycled but I bet they aren't, as i said most plastic goes abroad is dumped in the ocean. Small changes are the only step foraward, it would be better just get rid of the straws all togeather and have a cup system.gottans said:
This straw-gate incident is working as well as their new ordering system..
The plastic straws allow them to be re-used, recylcing is just a symptom, we need to re-use things not recycled them.
A double fail for MuckDs.
but were they actually reused? The plastic straws allow them to be re-used, recylcing is just a symptom, we need to re-use things not recycled them.
A double fail for MuckDs.
and isn't the problem with plastic in terms of public perception that it ends up in sea and birds eat it etc
I don't know a single person who's ever reused a plastic straw .
The paper straws news is more to do with our awful recycling infrastructure than the straws themselves. Even if they go to landfill they'll biodegrade in a couple of months rather than never.
It's all window dressing anyway. The damage the fast food industry does isn't going to be rectified by some paper straws.

How are you going to have a thick milkshake in a cup? Anyway, these straws make everything taste of cardboard, clog up before the drink/shake is finished so you use more than one straw per drink. And is me that is the only one to notice the irony of paper straws in a drink with a plastic lid?
They really are on top of this marketing mullarkey

It did, no idea why they changed it.
10.30 is too early to eat a burger and chips IMO
Anyway some of the refurbished stores seem to operating with a different way of doing things, the Newbury McD's on the A34 has changed and my god is it bad, takes ages, long queues to eventually receive cold food.
All food is now made to order, rather than being held. So while it takes longer as least it’s always fresh, no idea how you’re getting cold food. 10.30 is too early to eat a burger and chips IMO

All I have seen at that particular store is chaos, nobody knows the process so everything just sits around waiting for someone to join the dots. Cooking to order is great but as I pointed out in my communication to HQ the rest of the process isn't working. All you have to do is watch for a while and only a blind person wouldn't see it.
I applaud you for responding on here but having worked in McDs in some of the busiest stores in London during the eighties i.e. McDonalds cola and all that, what is happening is bad. Getting Amazon to deliver the burger would not make the product any worse.
Apologies for my language but someone needs to pull their finger out of their arse and sort this out, how hard is it to serve a hot burger? Any burger van at the side of the road manages that!
I suggest everyone should put up a review on trip advisor, the ratings of the store I commented on are tanking badly.
Not sure if you can see on the pic but the "ready" tray is absolutely piled up with about 30 burgers and other boxes. They had at least three people continuously making burgers and so on, with two management people running around after them, but only *one* person actually packaging up the orders / adding the fries and handing them to the customer, and she was super super slow at it. And one person prepping the drive through orders and another one on the tills taking non-touchscreen orders.
Quite why one of the burger assemblers or one of the two managers couldn't stop doing that for ten minutes and help get the orders from the "ready" tray to the customers to get back on track I don't know, but there was such a crowd of customers around the counter and they were all going nuts at the delay and starting to bring their cold burgers back.
My nuggets were lukewarm when I eventually got them, but I'd just had enough and needed to get going by then, couldn't wait another 15 minutes for them to get around to providing more cold nuggets. I'll just hesitate to return to McDonalds in future. The burger was OK though, maybe it had managed to sit under the heat lamp for the whole 12 minutes.
McDonalds your new system is RUBBISH, I know this occasion above was an extreme example but every single time some waiting around is involved now. Just go back to having a selection of burgers ready on the pass for instant handing out please.
Oh and the "spicy" nuggets are barely spicy at all! The regular ones are nicer. DQP is good though.
Anyone else who uses the app, do you find it slow to move between screens?
I don't think it's just my phone, as no other app or website loads or moves slow etc, but if I start ordering on the app as I'm heading into the store or a couple of minutes away walking, then I can guarantee it'll probably take the same time or quicker to order on the touch screens, including dealing with the payment part at the end on the app.
Just an observation.
