Hi, ordered a new C43 (yes, I know new version is coming later this year) and they're offering a service package at £40 pcm. Covers parts & labour. Any views on whether this is good value?

I've just picked one up. I put the details into the 'my Mercedes website' and it comes up as £345 for service A and an extra £31 for an optional dust filter.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Steve - yes, it was useful Looks like paying for it in a oner might be best.

Not specific to a C43 but having looked into this recently for my E class I cam to the conclusion that it is best to pay for the first service separately and then take out the service plan as the subsequent services are more expensive as they include more items, some of which are extra to the normal service cost but included in the service plan cost.

I took the service plan on my C63s as it had already had its first service, so a 3 year plan gives me 2 big ones and a minor, so great value.

Great value? On what basis?

We’re paying £25 or so a month for our SLK. £300 a year.

My XF is £650 for 5 years. My previous 5 series £425 for 5 years.

Rare to hear ‘great value’ in relation to MB service costs...... wink

Value compared to, paying for the services as they are due. Not value when compared to other manufacturers.

OK. Though I’d say it’s not quite as bad compared to paying when due, rather than say it’s great value.

The first service on a Merc is always going to be cheapest one through its life span!
From then onwards you are going to need items that may not be covered by a service plan.
Brakes pads and discs dealer will want to change if they do not think they will last the 12k. To the next service.
Also the transmission service maybe due during the period.
Paying out for the service as you go gives you total freedom as to what you want replaced.
You could stick the 40 sovs into a bank account a month , might even be able to treat yourself at the end of 3 years.

The salesman gets a nice little earner out of pushing these plans!

Except the service plan includes some these extra items, the transmission fluid change for instance.

It’s the ATF change that makes or breaks the value of the plan. Snag is it’s not easy to tell when it’s required and Mercedes does have history of messing about with the interval.

If it doesn’t come up on the ESS (Electronic Service Sheet) system that Mercedes use then the dealer won’t do it. ESS also gets messed up if the car’s mileage is much higher or lower than typical annual miles and it tends to miss things out.

Sure. I’ve got around 500 miles on so far but I’m following the running in instructions so I’ve not pushed it too hard.

I’m coming from a CLA45 so I’m keen to see how it compares. Two things I noticed straight away are the noise, which is great in comparison, and the interior, which I feel is much better and much more solid than the CLA.

Cheers for now.
