Can anyone tell me where the roof is attached to the body other than the large bolts on the hoop. I guess its held along the back under the trim but would be nice to know before I start trying to remove anything.
Need to get the hoop recovered, the foam has turned to powder and leaves a right mess on the shelf!

Hi, found mine, loose and rusted https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/imgs/8.gif. So will have a further look over Easter as with them being loose a lot of water entered the boot while it was outside, so got to replace/seal
Managed to get my roof off. The bolts were not too bad. Took a while to figure out how to remove the hood from the seat belt mounts. I didn't realise there were adjustments for the roof on the brackets. Removed the passenger side bracket and slid the hoop off the drivers side. In true TVR fashion I found the original pioneer stereo box glued to the underside of the vinyl to cover the bolts on the hoop!
It's now turned into a bigger job than I anticipated. The vinyl and foam backing on the trim beneath the hoop is rotten. The foam is powder and the couple of bits of metal glued to the backs of the trim are rusty. I am going to take the opportunity to remove the framework that the seat belts bolt to and get them powder coated before starting the trim. Think I will replace the belts too.

Removed the framework, its now having new base plates fitted before powder coating. Can't believe TVR fitted this without any paint whatsoever. I would recommend checking the base plates. After all this does hold the roof, seat belts and door strikers! Does anyone know the reason for gluing a metal plate to the vinyl underneath the hoop? I would like to improve on this but wondered if it was done to provide some sort of flexibility when folding the roof. If not I may make it more of a solid fixture before recovering everything. I did laugh at the 32mm square table leg bung used to house the boot switch!
Finally come to put.my roof back on the car this weekend after finishing the rear trimming. The problem I have now is that the targa will not fit! The locating tabs at the front are about 6 mm to high. I have tried every adjustment on the hoop brackets, lowering it highering it tilting, makes no difference at all. I had new base plates welded to the frame which fit perfectly where the originals were, the door catch and the stays from the frame to the rear arch fit ok so nothing is out of place. The roof was never a good fit to start but its no where near now. If I remove the door seal from above the screen it fits in lovely. The targa seems to be too high in the centre at the screen. There is daylight at either end but not in the centre . Does anyone have any suggestions, I am at a loss with this one. The only thing I can see is re profiling the front of the targa by removing some fibre glass from the middle allowing it to sit lower.
I will try and get some photos sorted. Loosened every bolt including the floor bolts and tried to fit the targa while everything was loose to get some movement. Still no good, I am starting to wonder if having stood the targa on its end and not moved it for 6 months that it may have warped. Really clutching at straws now!
The weird thing is if I take the hoop out of the equation and just put the front edge of the targa on the windscreen it still won't fit. I have to tilt it at an angle to locate the tabs then lower it this results in too much stress on the A pillars. I would have thought the work on the hoop would have no baring on the targa fitting this way. As I originally said the roof has always been difficult having to work from side to side to get the tabs located. It's as if the car has just relaxed into the position its happy with! I was hoping this would improve once I put everything back together but I should have known better!
The shut lines are TVR not brilliant but passable. Not removed the tab locators or tabs. The distance between the hoop tab locators and windscreen ones is exactly the same each side 49.5cm so its not twisted. The hight of the hoop is the same both sides measured from the same points.
