Un individu armé circulant à bord d'un véhicule a tiré vendredi sur des CRS, blessant l'un d'eux, non loin de Carcassonne, dans l'Aude.
L'homme s'est réfugié dans un supermarché (Super U) de Trèbes dans le même département.
Interrogé lors d'un déplacement à Mulhouse, le premier ministre, Edouard Philippe, a déclaré : "Un homme est retranché dans un supermarché avec des otages. C'est une situation sérieuse."
Selon la gendarmerie, une à deux personnes ont été touchées par balle.
Le parquet antiterroriste de Paris s'est saisi des tirs contre les CRS et de la prise d'otages.

And given that he is reported (on bbc) to be Moroccan, known to French authorities and not likely to be as brown as my other half, I can’t see what brown has to do with this.

It isn't about skin colour, it is radical ideology if early reports turn out to be correct.
