Just seen the "mini" version coming up soon at Aldi. Need a smaller BBQ just for me & Mrs21 for the summer hols.
Any obvious problem with the mini?
The only thing I'd say is how much can you actually fit on it? My thoughts with the large ones are they're for cooking "speciality" BBQs, smokes and low and slow etc. Are you going to want to do that on a small thing when away camping? Any obvious problem with the mini?
(obviously I suggest this as for me I couldn't be arsed!)

Well that was easy enough, large roll of brisket. Made a simple bbq sauce out of a slow cooker bbq packet and some tomato ketchup, brown sugar and white wine vinegar. Stuck that in until it reached 70 degrees (cooking at about 115), then wrapped in foil with apple juice, more sugar and chopped shallots and then cooked it up until 88 degrees.
Boiled down the cooking liquor and separated the fat and made a lovely BBQ Sauce with it.
Served with pittas and salad and some garlic new potatoes.
Very easy, certainly no better than it would have been on a Weber kettle but more reliable as it’s simply a light and leave-I’ve had my Weber burn out on me before using a snake method.
Used about half a starter chimney of Big K premium charcoal and put another half in unlit. Sprinkled some wood chips on the unlit stuff to add to the water soaked box of wood chips on the heat deflector.
I put the brisket on at 8:30am and we ate at about half two so very simple for a family BBQ.
Was it any better than if it was done on the Weber? Probably not but it was easier to hold a low temperature without any effort.

Rang Aldi again this morning to see when my bbq is coming that I ordered on the 16th May and was dispatched on the 18th May, I was told that it is now confirmed ‘lost in transit’ so they have a spare which will be dispatched to me ASAP.
I then get an email 2 hours later saying they are ‘pleased’ to confirm they have processed my refund.
Shower of st.
Now received the refund so it must definitely not be coming. The Aldi customer service throughout has been shocking, this will be the last thing I try and buy from them.I then get an email 2 hours later saying they are ‘pleased’ to confirm they have processed my refund.

They make you laugh how they are all jovial on Twitter then if you tell them they are st it’s all, ‘DM us and we’ll sort it out’ and you hear nothing from them.
Have just bought the smaller AK. Think it’ll be a good compliment to the larger one if we have more people over - should give the ability to cook at different temperatures and also finish off reverse sear steaks etc. Wife hasn’t threatened divorce yet… even said I should be paying for it with the joint account!

It's for lifting the grill.
Thanks. Makes sense.I normally use gloves so didn’t think.
”to lift the hot grill”
I’ve cooked a normal bbq of burgers and such on the Kamado, no photos of those.
Today I did beef shorts ribs around 240 for 7 hours.

I picked up a Lidl small one for £100 today, am I doing it right? Still boxed…
I got an Aldi one for £79.99 but no idea if it's any good or what I'm going to do on it.I want to slow cook some stuff on a bbq, so this made sense as it retains heat a lot more.
The FB group is very busy, eating up my feed!
