I'm trying to be 'good' with my eating and have started parkrunning recently but I'm hitting a snag.

When I get my morning break in work, I absolutely love a packet of crisps, a bar of chocolate and a tin of Diet Coke.

Now, I know these aren't the best things I could be eating but I'm having difficulties shaking the habit.

I've tried an apple or an orange instead but it just doesn't cut it.

Does anyone have any idea of what I can replace this with?

Cooking facilities are very limited in work so it would have to be prepacked.

People who eat boiled eggs in public sicken me wink.

Try having some nuts and dried fruit with the fruit, I don't find fresh fruit to be very filling but a handful of cashews and dried strawberries helps me feel like I've actually eaten something.

TBH you'll probably have a subconscious craving for the junk food so it'll be as much about breaking that with conscious behaviour as what you're eating.

Boiled eggs... disgusting and do you want everyone in the office to hate you? They fking stink.

As to breaking the desire for crisps and chocolate, that takes 12-14 days of not eating it. The best thing you can do is just not have them around.

For breakfast at the office, try porridge (or gruel if you make it really thin/runny). A uniquely Australian one is Jacobs crackers with Vegemite on them (my problem is I can easily go through a dozen of them in one sitting).

I'm also interested to hear of some good healthy snacks from others.

I have Dates in my drawer at work for when i get a sweet craving as they really hit the spot. I also have a bag of Monkey Nuts for the savory moments.

I tend to stay away from the snack machine. Works for me.

Wouldn't be a fan of opening a lunchbox that's had a boiled egg in it for a few hours.

I'm guessing it's mainly cravings but I'll give dried fruit and nuts a go, thanks.

Any ideas for a drink that not full of sugar?

I started to do the same as you around February.

Best practices I can give you is:

- Dont have crisps/chocolate around, don't buy them when out shopping (I've probably eaten less than 10 packets in the last 4 months because of this)

- Don't carry cash around with you! If you do, try and make it £20 notes therefore you wont 'open' a £20 to buy a 90p choc bar..

- I;ve traded fizzy drinks for cordial and sparkling water (make it night before and keep in the fridge in a 1L bottle) I've really been happy with this change, Saved a LOT of money, too! (for example, a 2L bottle of sparkling water costs around 15p in LIDL whereas the same in coke cans costs you over £3.

I've lost 23 pounds with these changes since feb, otherwise my lifestyle is pretty much the same.

Chilled water - try it with a slice of lemon or lime.

Veggie Power from Marks & Sparks is good. Lightyl salted soya beans, black soya beans & habas fritas.

122 calories per 'serving' (5 per bag) but they take some eating so you feel like you've had something more substantial, probably getting 7-8 servings from a bag. Bit rough on the old nipsey on the way out mind, they're a bit gritty.

Cheers for the suggestions. I do drink a lot of water in work, it helps my throat while I'm talking on the phone all day.

I might buy a bottle of sugar free cordial to spice up break and lunches.

Veggie sticks ; Carrot, Celery, peppers. Fruit : Apple / Orange segments, Dates. Nuts : ( small portions).

Asparagus wrapped in ham or bacon and cooked is really tasty.

For sugar free drinks, try 'Perfectly Clear' flavoured water - Home Bargains sell it really cheap.

There aren't really any healthy snacks. I would have a look at what you eat for breakfast so you don't feel hungry mid morning. Eggs are best.

Carrot sticks and peanut butter dip are surprisingly good. And I don't even like carrots!

I was in the same boat and found a big breakfast sorted it.

Huge bowl of overnight oats with some fruit chopped into it does me.

My favourite is:

Oats
Almond milk (unsweetened)
2 tsb of peanut butter (organic)
1 tsp of maple syrup

Mix it all up and leave it in the fridge overnight. I take it to work and chop a banana into it, lovely and keeps me topped up until lunch.

Either

No breakfast,

Or

Only scrambled eggs (no toast) for breakfast.

No carbs at the start of the day and after a week or two you don't get the mid morning dip any more and start not feeling hungry til lunchtime.

There are some really delicious aloe Vera drinks I've tried lately. Very tasty indeed?
