Lots come up on the search but I have no idea which ones are good as in good amount and good service.

Just cleared out ages old stuff and need some more. Found on jar with best before 1993 on it, a lot had not been used for 15 years or more.

Do you not have an Indian grocer nearby?

Usually lots of choice in fresh spices and reasonably priced.

Unfortunately no. And not liking the usual suspect outlets.

how weird, I was just looking for old threads on this and this one didnt show up on the search.

I'm looking at taking some premixed spices with me to the states next month, so exactly what I'm looking for. I saw that in the old threads several of the ones mentioned are no longer around.

So of what we have left there's

http://www.curryfrenzy.com/

https://www.spicebox.co.uk/curry-mixes/main-dish-m...

and https://www.thespicery.com/easy-kits/curry-kits

The spicebox seemed to be a favourite, but although I'm not particularly worried by cost, see the £5.20 as a bit cheeky.

So it may well be curry frenzy.

One other thing I noticed about spice box was the method of a lot of them was, boil spices, chuck in can of tomatoes, and then the meat. Possibly a bit simple. Are the Curry Frenzy ones a bit more 2 part (ie fry chicken with spice pack one, add water tomatoes and spice pack 2 etc) or basically the same?

Thanks, my quandary was knowing others had had good service and the product was OK.

Searches are a dark art. What normally happens is I search, find sod all and ask the question and someone pops up links asking why didn't I search ...... silly

Not got anything yet as my storage jars also went out and need to replenish the lot. They never had a good seal and I had too much all told and some still in the bags I had bought it in 16+ years ago! It was a mess. One jar was best before 1993.

Hoping to get some better storage jars and fewer and a small selection of essential spices ordered. Hopefully going to Cardiff today to get the storage then deal with the spices by the end of the week.

Cheers.

I was going to buy the separate ingredients but those packs look handy. Note to self, small sandwich cases for opened packs.

I do like making my own garam masala though so still need the loose stuff.

I used to have all separate spices and made everything from scratch but wasted loads of spices as didn’t use them quickly.
Now buy these and just modify them- a bit more garam masala or chilli powder. Extra garlic or chilled here and there.
I find these to be a really good base and much quicker to use.
They also do a great Southern Fried Chicken coating!

I buy whole spices and grind as needed. They last ages.

The 'world food' aisle at Tesco does quite well for things like cumin and coriander, anything else I buy on Amazon.

https://www.theasiancookshop.co.uk/ has a huge array of different spices. Ordered from them a few times without issue.

I’ve been using the spicery for years very impressive curries from around the world. The curry kits are multipart so a side dish a chutney maybe homemade breads or dumplings plus the curry so you have to be a semi competent cook it’s not just shove a cha of tomatoes in and some chicken. They also always stick a freebie packet in which could be anything from a very simple one pot curry to chocolate chilli brownies.

Should keep me going then. Get some orders in this weekend. Couldn't even find a decent sized packet of coriander yesterday.
