Lovely.

Debating whether to brine our whole turkey again this year, it's 18lbs though, so might need a dustbin. :-)
This afternoons job is to prep 36 kilo of butterfly frown

Had a crowd for dinner on Sunday, so simple and make ahead was order of the day. Slow roast lamb shoulder, Dauphinoise, slow roast tomato and broc. A crowd pleaser for sure. There's often an obsession to press Dauphinoise and serve it sliced, but I think you lose the richness and moisture - although it is hard to serve it attractively!

You have a face on your very nice lamb, right side of the lovely dauphinoise wink

After cooking a small turkey for thanksgiving on the weekend before, just because my mate from college lives in the USA , now I have now finished eating the mofo beer

Day 1

Day 4 .. two wings one with BBQ and honey and one with chili powder in butter

Day 10, curry style using a cheese powder sauce

The poor mans Coronation Turkey.

Day 15, taking that and putting it a wrap with cheese

Day Zombie .. the sandwich

Day Zombie plus 1 ... the leftovers ... lettuce, turkey, onion chilli and cheese

Never ever again.

And that was a small turkey and the dog had 3 meals out of it ! Although the turkey is the worst meat in the world ever it was quite enjoyable trying it to raise it from the dead more than one time.

Got a goose for the 25th ..... laugh

I am glad you enjoyed your experience. Unfortunately, I have to agree with the mounting number of reviews about Pete Lugers and would not recommend the place any more. It seems they want to process as many people as possible and I have had better service almost anywhere else.

Finally.... Do not cut my fking steak up!

Yes, I had to walk around Brooklyn with $800 in cash for 5 of us to eat. I was slightly nervous......

Still the best steak I've eaten ( in NYC or anywhere else). It was busy, even for a weekday but I wouldn't say we were processed and the staff were excellent.

I'd prefer PL to a lot of the London starred places I've been recently..

i heard these reviews too. does make you wonder how much better they really are to other places when they're buying in the same USDA steaks but charging more than others. simple old fashioned menu. you'd think with a simple old fashioned menu the food would either be epic (and worth the price) or be affordable.

I've been. It's good but no better than many other places such as Goodmans and I had a USDA steak in Vegas (Smith & Wollensky) which was excellent. As above, they have a certain arrogance about them (PL) and it came through in the service. I wouldn't go back.

At least your teeth were chattering so much that you could have chomped through it if it was over cooked.

I've been to S&W back in the day, has anyone tried Keens? I fancy their lamb chop! The USA seems to have a downer on lamb compared to beef for some weird reason.

Eaten at Keens a few times - always a good meal, but I’d say Goodmans is just as good. Found keens a good place if a few of you so you can get a different cuts of meat to share. Never had the lamb chops however.

Goodmans Canary Wharf last night - daughters birthday meal ( bit of a tradition for the last 5-6 years). Sorry - no before photo, just one with my daughters food been cut up (Broken thumb). Daughter and I had Yorkshire grass fed, wife had the USDA corn fed. Have to say - the Yorkshire grass fed was the better of the two. As always was one of the best steaks I’ve had ever.

Very happy/contended photo ...

Binned off the turkey tradition for good yesterday and went for bone-in rib of beef. Never cooked one before and was bit panicky about timing and temps but very pleased with the outcome:
