I'm in the German city of Koblenz on a road trip with my daughter but unfortunately she's taken ill so I wandered out of the rented apartment in search of solitary sustenance and found a Balkan restaurant.

The waiter seems to think I look like I need a pickled prebiotic as an unexpected starter.

Main was a mixed grill, which was very good even though I'm not normally a massive meat eater.

Looks banging

Love it when the plate of food looks like something you'd generally never get back in the UK

Pickled lettuce stuffed with rice?

Hope your daughter feels better soon

Thanks.

The lettuce was just plain, but the (tomato) rice was hidden under the meat. Was good, and excellent VFM.

This is NOT an omelette hehe

Tinned and sauted spuds..............

Fried bacon, onions and red pepper. Five eggs, cup of grated cheddar whisked up with a cup of double cream.

Finished off in the oven (hence not am omelette) ....

Looks great. I had something very like this years ago and it was lovely.

When I saw the first photo, I thought you were just doing fried potatoes which is a fave of ours. Any time I boil potatoes for mash, I set 3-4 aside and slice them up the next day to fry in butter, lovely with a fried egg and a bit of bacon.

Reeeaaally fancied Indian tonight but there’s only two takeaways near me, one of which is closed for refurb and the other served me raw chicken once so I will never darken its doors again. Didn’t have the time or inclination to drive elsewhere or make my own, so chicken balti, pilau and garlic/coriander naan from the Marks down the road it is. To be fair, for a ready meal, it’s not the worst Indian one I’ve had.

Felt a bit winter-y today, so slowcooked some beef ribs. Mash and veg with roasted garlic gravy.

Imma also announce that every recipe I cook now has the suffix “serve with fried pancetta”!

Presso is ste as I’ve been smelling it for 4 hours doing DIY about the house, I wasn’t messing about…

Nothing better than a Sunday roast, even if it is just a couple of chicken legs as it’s a meal for one.

10oz fillet steak and Individual American meatloafs with herbed potatoes and oven roasted runner beans.

Didn't realilze, (but should have expected) one of the ingredients in meatloaf is ketchup...Tasted pretty good tbf. Steak less so, as I used desert rosemary from the garden - which turns out gives a slightly fishy aroma : /

Bronze cut spaghetti and 24 month aged parmigiana stops this being pretentious thread suitable, but…

Spaghetti bolognese

The parmigiana some friend brought me back from Tuscany in the summer is fabulous… needs a bit of mould scraping off the outside , but it’s rock hard, with a crunchy/salty deep umami flavour… it’s really a bit too good to grate on top of pasta biggrin

That looked so nice I had to do one myself. The lazy version, with air fryer and microwave, but....

Portion control fail again, ate too much.

Last night was ham served with buttery mash and honey roasted carrots/parsnips. Had some white sauce on side too, it's not as dry a dinner as it looks.

Did the ham my usual way, 7 hours in slow cooker with an onion halved and 1 litre of Coke/1 litre of apple juice, then finished in oven for 10 mins on high heat with a maple syrup and dijon mustard glaze. Wouldn't cook it any other way now, lovely flavour to the ham and very tender.
