I've never been a great fan of seafood, apart from proper fish like mackerel and sardines.
Shellfish and things like octopus/squid makes me a little squeamish, but that looks great - I need to be more adventurous. paperbag

First attempt at salt and pepper squid with home grown chillies

6 out of 10. Very crispy when first done but when added to the garlic, spring onion, chillie mix cooking in oil I used too much oil to cook them and a bit greasy as a result. Still better than the local chinese though and the chillies packed a punch. Lager doctor please ....

Creamy chicken, ham and leek pie (which unfortunately broke up a lot getting it out of the dish), hasselback potatoes with butter and cheddar cheese topped with sour cream, bacon and parsley. Also carrots, green beans, sugar snaps and broccoli.

Then clementine posset with cranberry compote and cinnamon palmiers.

I thought the plate of palmiers looked kinda cool.

Inspired by Dibble. wavey

I had a bad reaction to chemo and had a temperature of 38.9°C and was rushed into hospital.

This was dinner. Liver & bacon with onions, a scoop of mashed potato and and ocean of salty gravy. Strawberry yoghurt for dessert.

laugh must be having an off weekend, just like Ferrari against Bottas, er, I mean Lewis

Finally got tempura batter down pat ( the squid above was just in cornflower)

and then onto General Tso Chicken.

Normal service will be resumed next week when I serve a raw Ginsters pie with a bit of asparagus top with an unclean plate..... beerdrink

Did you make the pie yourself?

Good to see I'm not alone in craving pies now autumn is upon us. Picked up the Hairy Bikers pies book on eBay last year and it is wonderful.

Also have a lot apples I need to find a use for!

This photo doesn't do it justice but this is a lovely pork and apple pie:

Have also attempted their apple strudel but it wasn't fit for publishing here.

Pie season in full swing!

A friend works near a good pie shop and every so often drops me one off (Lord of the Pies in Stockport). Anyway, this was based on one off their FB page; beef (skirt) and chorizo cooked in Malbec. We just had it with fried padron peppers. Crappy pic just before it got demolished.

Yes, all of it was freshly made / baked that evening.
I followed this recipe for the pie.

https://www.bbc.com/food/recipes/creamy_chicken_ha...

Although I didn't make the pastry this time, I used ready rolled short crust.
