Pork Souvlaki at a local Greek Eatery.

Could do with a nap.
The vacuum packed, from the wholesaler, kebabs strike again.

All the "Greek" restaurant round here seems to use the same supplier.

Had a curry craving for the past week, so finished work early yesterday and rustled up a tikka masala. Was banging, for some reason I'm not too popular this morning though! whistle

Given the place we were eating in had their own mini Cypriot bakery and made their own sheftalias I don't think a bit of Souvlaki would be beyond them - especially given the range of meats they offered souvla style. However I shall bow to your superior wisdom and ability to figure out how food is made from a picture!

Apologies, I am just very cynical when it comes to Greek food/ restaurants.

The two in my town and another I have visited claim to be "Fresh", however, the reality is they simply buy in their variety of skewers and meats from a wholesaler in vacuum packing and just heat them on a grill.

While it does taste OK, you can tell that they aren't fresh as they have a kind of rounded, unnatural shape to the Souvlaki.

Given what you have said though, i trust that what you had was in fact fresh.

What was the name of the place if you don't mind me asking?

It was this place on Trentham Gardens - https://www.anasma.co.uk/

Owners are Cypriot rather than Greek (yes there is a difference, to me anyway smile), however the Souvlaki was better than any I've tried in Cyprus outside of the Last Castle (Viklari) - well seasoned and cooked to perfection.

Even if it was from a wholesaler, whatever they did to it was absolutely on point - only issues were 1) there weren't twice as many of them, and 2) they'd run out of Keo so I had to wash it down with that Mythos stuff hehe

Thanks for sharing. Some nice food on that menu.

There is always a solution to not having twice as many kebabs...buy twice the amount! Often if you ask for a double portion of meat, they'll do you a little deal.

That does look very tasty, but why serve it in a bowl?

I prefer to eat out of a bowl these days.

Some things work better out of a bowl, but the presentation usually suffers.

Gordon Ramsey's sticky pork ribs, home made coleslaw, corn on the cob.

The ribs were unbelievably good... relatively simple recipe, but fabulous flavour! Will make again.

Went to a very local Nepalese Indian and had one of their awesome mixed grills.

Taking inspiration from Mr Stott of this parish I ordered a side of vindaloo sauce - was bloody lovely.

Best bit, entire meal with a couple of drinks cost £50, or £60 with tip....
