We have a Turkish fig tree that produces loads of fruit twice a year. This is a cracking recipe and dead simple.

Or nduja. Putting nduja on anything makes it taste amazing.
I second this. It would work very nicely with shaved fennel too.
Thanks all for your suggestions. This needs a pre event tester.

Just to comment on a number of anchovy suggestions. Now they're my #1 go to on pizza toppings. But I'm really not sure it's a crowd pleaser.

But fk it. Is it really about them.... scratchchin

Not really THAT unusual I guess, just beats the usual "pepperoni innit"

Tomato, mozzarella, ham, artichokes, portobello mushrooms, black olives & capers

Mozzarella, porcini mushrooms, gorgonzola parmesan & truffle oil White base so no tomato

And my personal fav

Donner kebab biggrin

In my opinion, anything with a tomato base cannot be deemed an 'unusual' pizza. Use other well known combinations such as an apple sauce base with pork, a horseradish sauce base with beef, a tartar sauce base with fish.

Boursin, blobbed around the top rather than spread on the base.

Slices of courgette taste good to me. Also try butter rather than olive oil in the base

If you watch episode one of Gino, Gordon and Fred, Gordon Ramsay made a dessert pizza that's lemon and basil etc. Pretty out there as far as pizzas go.

That's just a London pizza. Been on northern menus for as long as I can remember.

A fried egg cracked in the middle a minute or so before removing from the oven to serve. Could work well with the nduja.

It was all the rage in Magaluf cafes back in the 1990s, sold as the 'King pizza'.

Caramelised pineapple and bacon is tremendous

My favourite though is smoked salmon, olives, capers and goat feta with a squeeze of lemon juice and a couple of grinds of black pepper

Also, portobello mushrooms and blue cheese, add bacon if you want to go ott

The base and sauce are arguably more important than the toppings

This book's great if outrageous creativity is your thing

I'm a big fan of making a thick white sauce with plenty of tallegio in and using that as a base instead of tomato. Put on some crumbled up Italian fennel sausage and add some part cooked tenderstem/purple sprouting broccoli.

Once out of the oven, drizzle it with some some nice olive oil and shave over some parmesan. A favourite in our house.
