Springbank is the answer
I'm with Mr Stuart on this. The 10 year old is exceptionally good, but for me you can't go wrong with a 15 or 21 if budget allows.

Sounds like an excuse for a mini break to Edinburgh and hit the royal mile for a night of debauchery culminating in comatose important research work likely to precipitate a well earnt long rest.

Of all the whiskeys ive tried i prefer the irish whiskeys such as Powers or Bushmills usually but good ol Jameson is alright as a backup too.

Tobermoray 12 year old surprised me today, really smooth. No ice or water, as it's poured.

There is no agreed definition of "smooth" - it just means "I like it".

Some people think peated whiskies are smooth, some think sherried, some think Irish, some think Bourbon. Usually these opinions will be in direct contraction of one another.
