Durian - plant/fruit In Malaysia and China. It’s a delicacy and the small of it is rancid. They double shrink wrap it in Chinese supermarkets and it makes me feel physically sick. I’ve eaten it 3 times when with local teams and just managed to eat a little but it’s awful
tastes better than it smellsFermented Herring. From about 1:30 onwards (and that's before tasting it)!

I have eaten (and enjoyed) pretty much everything mentioned on the thread so far. I still eat oysters despite developing an allergy to them some 15 years ago and, having spent a while working in China, consumed many things which I hadn't a clue as to their provenance!!
However, about 5 years ago, whilst working in Germany, the staff restaurant served-up Lung stew (a traditional Bavarian dish) - It was perhaps the most vile thing I have ever consumed, no amount of salt/pepper or Tabasco made it palatable. Never again!!

I'll try most things once - the only ones i wouldn't really want to is fat juicy bugs or caterpillars.
I have tried things like embryonic duck eggs, boiled pigs ear sandwiches, pickled horse intestines, and stewed sheep brains - i wouldn't ever want to eat them again.
In terms of 'normal food' i can't eat, i can't really eat liver and find foie gras makes me feel a bit ill too.

The worst thing I've ever eaten was Vitello Tonato in Milan. A cold veal chop with tuna mayonnaise layered over the top as the sauce. I'd pay to never eat that again.
That's not the Vitello Tonnato, it's the restaurant. I had one for the first time in an Italian restaurant in Paris a couple of weeks ago and it was absolutely stunning!Thin slices of veal that melted in your mouth with a lovely creamy sauce on top. Once you knew the sauce was tuna-based, it was pretty obvious, but I doubt many people would've guessed if they'd not been told.
I'd definitely recommend you try it somewhere else before consigning it to the "never again" list.

I would raise an eye brow at anyone who didn't want to eat any of those.
(I'll concede I'm not comfortable with olives, but 'one day' my taste buds will allow them). They're not excluded for life!

For centuries, a rite of passage for French gourmets was the eating of the Ortolan. These tiny birds—captured alive, force-fed, then drowned in Armagnac—were roasted whole and eaten that way, bones and all, while the diner draped his head with a linen napkin to preserve the precious aromas and, some believe, to hide from God.

They also crack off just the tip of the egg to let them drink down the juices first, then eat all the contents, including bones and all, even the eggy bit has some kind of veins around it for added juice.
They are numbered too so you can choose exactly how developed you want the baby to be by number of days/weeks. They also stink.
Difficult one to decide which is worse imo...
Happy to share the crown if needed?
