What is it with UK eateries?!

The chili sauce always seems to be tepid heat wise on the scovin scale. I like a right blaster and in 99% of time it’s not even hot!

Most Kebab places are mild. The hotest I’ve had of late was in Franca Manca of all places. Very potent. Also Falafal eateries seem to sort out a very evil green solution that does the trick.

I suppose most bods in the UK are not wanting their heads blown off with the next morning suffering for the hedonistic pursuit of painful pleasure on the khazi!

The average white person living in the UK can't handle the heat, so you have to cater to your demographic.

My girlfriend finds McDonald's sweet chilli as "spicy" hehe

Morrisons do a "ghost chilli sauce" comes in a little bottle. I have it on a few meals at work, it got passed round the office one night, most people couldn't handle it.

They also do a scorching hot phaal which has defeated a few at work.

i find places owned by asian (indian) owners who make their own chili sauce will actually make hot stuff. my local who makes their own chili sauce is VERY hot. ontop of that you can ask them to cook the doner in onions and chili sauce (making it even hotter). when they first opened up their stuff was painfully hot..so much so that i think i ripped something and it took me a few days of eating high fiber mild foods to recover!

Too many idiots that ask for a red hot sauce and then complain or barf it up.

Damn fine work!

If I’m in the mood going for a Ruby I’ll order a Phal or super hot Vindaloo.

Also tried one of those evil Reaper Iceland hot as fk curries. It was indeed seriously molton but I polished it off as it needed to done!

In my experience, there is only one truly, madly, deeply hot sauce:

Hell Unleashed

Thanks to the OP for starting the thread, reminded me it's been a while since I had any of this stuff, just ordered another bottle.

If you're mad enough to try it, I suggest holding the bottle under warm running water to reduce the viscosity before extracting the tiniest amount - and don't, for the love of God, get the stuff near your eyes.

Absolutely brutal, but the endorphin rush is phenomenal. Yes, it's twenty odd quid for a tiny bottle, but if you like sampling stupidly hot sauces, you need to try this before you die. Possibly shortly beforehand. Unlike a lot of extract-based sauces, it does have an appreciably delicate flavour which can be savoured shortly before heat payload detonates, and doesn't have the same aftertaste that extract can leave (possibly because your whole gustatory and olfactory systems will have decided to stop working for a bit).

Also worthy of mention are the Devon Chilli Man's sauces - met him at his stand at the Mid Devon Show a while back, and recently restocked - this collection is remarkably good value:

3 Bottle Devon Chilli Man Collection

They're all a nice change from the average hot sauce, and all have a healthy kick. Recommended. The chilli pickles available from that site are very good too - I think they're made by a couple of difference companies who source their peppers from him.

also, what about the hot wings? 10-15 years ago whenever I ordered a hot wing it was actually hot, it'd give me a runny nose. nowadays nope. they're mild as ever. some people don't even put any sort of heat into them too.

Totally agree with you OP most hot/chilli sauces are rubbish.

You need to find an old african/west indian lady that makes her own.

Thats where i get mine, as far as i know it is just scotch bonnets blended with oil and a few other bits and it is the best hot sauce ive ever had. Use it like ketchup/mayonaise or brushed on meat when bbq-ing.

I got a fresh bottle last week and the cold/flu that was starting to rear its head has been wiped out !

They no longer make the Flaming Fiery Phall, only the Volcanic Vindaloo which isn't as good.
Too hot for Joe Public most likely, bunch of wusses.

Just had a tip off about some hot spice packs and received them in the mail on Friday. Will have a go at the 'Fear The Reaper' one tonight !

It's good stuff - bought a bottle of that, along with a bottle of the 'God Slayer', again at the Mid Devon Show, a couple of years ago.

Try the 'Hell Unleashed' though. Makes 'Regret' look tame.

there's hardly any heat to that stuff. i like the taste, but you really have to drench stuff in it.

I've got into Encona West Indian/Original Hot Pepper Sauce. https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/254...

They both are hot enough to be stimulating, but moreish, with a smokey flavour and not sweet. There's a range http://www.enconasauces.co.uk/product-range

Also agree with OP, hard to find places that actually serve proper spicy food. I certainly don't know of any curry place that will make anything that even tingles my mouth, let alone what I'd call spicy. I make my own at least once a week using Carolina Reaper powder to get the spice level up.

In the chicken wing world most are pathetic, until you come across the places that do wing challenges like the Red Dog Saloon in London, or the Orange Buffalo in East London with their viper wings.....those are just insane and do not taste good, they just hurt.

I drown a lot of my meals in sauces from this brand: https://www.hotsauceemporium.co.uk/category/hot-ch...

It takes a special kind of sadist to enjoy nuclear hot sauce.

I happen to like the buzz but most think of guys who like super hot stuff as weird.

‘Like I care....!
