kebab shop pizzas really are crap
That depends entirely on the kebab shop. I’m a pizza snob, have my own wood burning ovens and refuse to eat the likes of Pizza Hut and Dominos but there are one or two kebab shops whose pizzas I strangely enjoy
I'm sort of with you here. It's a different type of meal, and my expectations are different. I know the base is going to be stodgy, and the cheese will be rubbery and tasteless. But I still enjoy it in some circumstances.

It's a bit like "Chinese" takeaways that would be unrecognisable to most people from China (chicken balls, crispy beef etc.). They aren't good food by any definition, but they have their place.

I think a huge swathe of take aways can be lumped into that regardless of what type of food they are serving.

Monday night is fish night.
Taken after the donation of half a cod but before I had to give away half a haddock.

I guess so. I'm lucky that it's easy to get great, authentic pizza delivered where I live SW London, from a choice of 2-3 places (depending on mood etc.).
Even then, I still crave a filthy kebab shop/halal pizza every now and again, no matter how rubbish it will make me feel the next day (salt content and undigestible 'cheese').

Very nice looking fish, that batter is spot on.

I had one (with an extra sausage + tom sauce) and preferred the roll to the muffin, was more contained.

Felt like a burger bun which I think just doesn't go with breakfast. Made me realise how nice the mcmuffin is though.

That was my thought too. Made me feel like I was eating some kind of odd breakfast burger

I've only ever had Dominoes once, that was with a voucher. I think "once" says it all.
Theres a local chain called Four Star Pizza about 1 minute up the road from my local Dominos, it wipes the floor with Dominos. More flavour, better sauce, more authentic taste. On a Tuesday they do any 14' for £8.

You drive past the Dominos and it's busy, with a line out the door and all the delivery drivers. Four Star is empty, it's almost like nobody knows the other place exists.

There's a Four Star just down the road from me here in NI and it's unbelievably good - range of sauces for the base, lots more variety on the menu and a damn sight cheaper the Dominos.

I remember a time when I used to get a train down from Leeds to London to eat proper pizza at Franco Manca’s original branch and places like Santa Maria in Ealing. Thankfully we have plenty of neapolitan style places round here these days but every so often I do the same as you and order a proper junk food pizza from an old favourite and consume it whilst watching Diners Drive Ins and Dives

I guess people like that you can almost always get a minimum 35% ‘discount’ at dominoes, invariably 50%. Marketing and all that.
